Staff was super friendly and this is the only hostel I stay where the staff walk me up to the room and explain everything. If you have research where the location of this hostel, you will know the hostel is located on the top of hill. So definitely a battle if you have big luggage..the selling point of this hostel would be enjoying the view from the terrace. Overall the place is clean just the facility bit old for the toilet. I think they really should be doing some upgrading and some tlc for the room.(Some of the curtain are already wear and tear) The location up the hill I think a plus point for me as I take it as an exercise after having stuff myself with so much foods and with rewarding views.

Attractive price but questionable cleanliness

I had booked for a week normally at the Lyon center hospital, as soon as I arrived a young person was very friendly and very pro! Having arrived earlier than checkin time, I waited on the terrace with a breathtaking view of Lyon! What I didn't know was that the hostel was a social hostel.
Nevertheless, I had booked in a women's dorm and it was not clean. In my bed, the sockets did not work, the toilets were dirty (urine on the toilet, moldy in the shower, hair everywhere). I slept very badly and the next morning I go to breakfast, very few choices, the basic formula included bread and croissant and there was no bread. When I asked the (older) gentleman on duty, he replied that there were only croissants and that it was like that, coffee not at all good...
I asked that same person, why the sockets didn't work and even answer, he didn't know and it was like this... Despite this, he passed me a plug but which did not work in my dorm or in the common areas downstairs...
In view of the events, I preferred to leave and asked the same gentleman for a refund. He said the managers will call me back to make the refund. After a lot of insistence with the receptionists (5 calls made, 2 emails sent with photos), I finally manage to get a refund after 2 weeks of waiting (without any news from the hospital) and MANY reminders. A few days ago, the manager finally took the time to contact me and reimbursed me in full...
Very disappointed with the hostel, I do not recommend at all to sleep or stay, no cleanliness in common areas, sanitary and rooms...

Decent enough hostel, but needs some serious upgrades.

A basic but comfortable hostel, a bit of a hike uphill. The beds were enclosed with lights and power and quite cozy. Lockers were too small for my average size bag. The small kitchen had exactly one pot, plate, and burner. Maybe you could ask for more if you need. I rarely had to wait though, so it was mostly OK. Towels are 5(!) Euro to rent. You could likely buy one for less.
Breakfast options were reasonable for the price.
Having breakfast/lunch/dinner on the hillside terrace is a real treat.
If you do self-cater, the few shops nearby were small and lacking.
The only big problem was the plumbing in both the kitchen and bathrooms. Seems half the sinks would not drain, half the WCs were out of order (and paper) or missing a seat, or decked with mildew. Showers were frustrating but mostly working.
All things considered, I'd stay again. But the bathroom/shower/kitchen situation might be a deal-killer for some.
