Our Lviv Hotel - Hotel 39
best best best location, lovely room, very nice breakfast restaurant. Hotel receptionists are so nice people. The room has very comfortable bed, only bathroom is small but its ok than just weekend holiday.

Excellent location
Perfect location in the main square, Room 2 was a comfortable room with a view onto the square with high ceilings and easy access to restaurants. However if you have lots of luggage and are unfit beware - there is no lift and the reception is on 4th floor and cars can't drive right up to it because it's in the main square - you have to walk about 300m. Not your typical breakfast - breakfast is in a seafood restaurant 3 doors down - I had poached eggs on toast with a side of some sort of salmon and raisin in vinaigrette and tea or coffee. It's quirky and I'm glad we stayed there, but it wouldn't be suitable for eg. an elderly couple with a lot of luggage and trouble walking.

Fabulous location
Hotel 39 is located in the attractive main square of Lviv, we arrived from Kiev by train and although the trams are having new track we was able to get the bus to the Opera House and then walk the remaining 5 - 10 minutes to the hotel. The hotel is located in an old building and to get to it you need to enter the large door (clearly marked with the number) and walk to the rear of the building then you need to go up to the 4th floor. Not ideal if you are elderly or unable to manage the stairs. The stairs and ceiling of the staircase are beautiful and worth looking at even if you are not staying. Rooms are located in the 3rd and 4th floor - we had a very large room at the front of the building. I was expecting a lot of noise (earplugs by the side of the bed) but maybe it was a mid week break we was not disturbed at all. Fridge and water supplied in the room but no safe, although I believe there are safety boxes at reception. The rooms were clean with robes and toiletries. There are 2 options for breakfast you can have vouchers for Bar Mushy a couple of doors down if you want breakfast before 10am - we did this on our first day but this is a seafood restaurant and the majority of the breakfasts had some element of seafood on them. I have a shell fish allergy and the chef did leave the mussels out of the omelette. The other option is a buffet brunch style breakfast which is served in the restaurant downstairs between 10 - 12. This was a selection of traditional Ukrainian dishes, we wasn’t made aware we could also have eggs benedict or the traditional cottage cheese pancake. Very odd though, no tea or coffee is included however a glass of Prosecco is.
There is also a steep staircase accessed from the 4th floor to the roof. Not suitable for children or those with vertigo- but fabulous views.
Returning home we walked to the university 10 mins away and got the regular trolley bus to the airport. Very easy.

Good but noisy late at night
Always slightly thought provoking to check in somewhere and find a couple of boxes of earplugs in your room beside the bed.
Lots of positives here, the room was big, clean and comfortable and a reasonable price for the location and staff nice. I would say the location is fantastic. I knew about the 3 flights of stairs from previous reviews so no issues there.
I have always thought that a good nights sleep is important but was definitely thinking dark thoughts late on the first night about the band playing in the square with the electric guitar and sound system. No ear plugs were going to block that out. (I was on the top floor loft room). The second night was a different music noise from somewhere nearby. Again annoying.
Both mornings I decided to eat brunch elsewhere as Lviv has some great places to eat and as such can't comment on the provided breakfast. Having read some negative reviews I had decided not to.
Although there were many positives I wouldn't stay here again unless the owners invested in some good sound proofing. Noise during the early hours of the morning just isn't something I want.

Comfiest bed in Lviv!
I ended up staying here for one night and I honestly didn’t want to get out of bed the next morning, it was too comfortable! The location is amazing, right in the heart of all the restaurants and beautiful buildings. The staff were what made this place great, after having a few bad experiences with hotels I really felt that they went out of their way to accommodate me. Would stay here again!
