Great stay!
The hotel has s great location and a friendly and welcoming staff. The room is small but clean and has all you need for a comfortable stay. It could be even better if the room includes a mini refrigerator and a microwave. However every morning the hotel provides free coffee and tea in the coffee shop at the first floor. Overall, it’s a great hotel for a short stay and I would definitely come back!

Very disappointing experience – unresolved billing issue and missing refund
I stayed at Pod 39 in New York and, unfortunately, my experience was seriously affected by the way my payment and security deposit were handled.
I was charged a total of USD 1,039.40, which was paid in full using my debit card. After checking out, I was informed by the hotel that the security deposit authorization had been released. However, no corresponding refund or release of funds has appeared in my bank account.
I have contacted the hotel several times and provided documentation from my bank showing the transaction. I have also specifically requested the exact date on which the funds were supposedly released and the bank transaction/reference code that would allow my bank to trace the operation.
Unfortunately, instead of providing clear and verifiable information that would allow the transaction to be located, the hotel has continued to state that the authorization was released on the day of checkout.
This is extremely frustrating. When a hotel retains or processes a significant amount of a guest's money, it should be able to provide clear, traceable and verifiable information regarding the release of those funds.
I am not disputing a technical explanation regarding how a security deposit authorization may appear on a bank statement. My concern is simple: the funds have not returned to my account, and I have not been provided with sufficient banking information to verify where or when the money was released.
I expected much better customer service from Pod 39. I hope the hotel takes this matter seriously and provides the necessary transaction information to resolve the issue rather than simply repeating that the funds were released.
I would strongly recommend keeping detailed records of all payments and checking your bank statements carefully when staying at this hotel.

For a solo traveler, this is a great priced hotel for you, especially in the Grand Central neighborhood! I walked in and was greeted by multiple concierge workers asking if I needed help / help with my bags. The check in process was super seamless. As for the room, I had a full pod with private bathroom. They do have pod’s that are shared with a shared bathroom. I just couldn’t bare the thought of sharing a shower with others but that’s just me. The full pod was extremely clean and very quaint. The bathroom area had a sliding glass door with a rainfall shower and was spotless. I would definitely stay here again, if I need to be in the grand central neighborhood. I know they have other properties in other NY neighborhoods as well. Definitely check them out!

Real value for money
Myself & my daughter stayed between 20-25th August. I must admit I was a bit sceptical at first at this is way cheaper than other hotels I looked at. But after reading reviews it was simply a no brainer to book. It really was excellent value for money.
Our room was a bunk pod and its was all we needed. Do not expect huge rooms but the room was perfect for us. Why need a huge room when you’ll hardly be in it anyway! beds were really comfortable too!
The hotel has really good WiFi.
I also found the location to be great too with Grand Central being only a 5 minute walk away!!
Coffee and tea on the house at breakfast time is also a nice touch!
I found that the hotel staff can not do enough for you.
Where also really lines was the rooftop bar with a great view of the city.
When booking I put in a cheeky request that there was just a little happy birthday note in the room for my daughter as our trip was to celebrate her 21st birthday and I subsequently forgot about this and when we went to the room for the first time there was a lovely card with some beautiful messages wishing her a happy birthday and a couple of drinks vouchers for her. I thought this was a really nice touch!!
All in all if you are planning NY and are on a bit of a budget then consider Pod39 as a good option.
If I do come to NY again I will be booking Pod39 again

It was ok I mean I found trash behind the bed. And it wasn’t ours. Also they didn’t provide eggs or bacon or sausages for breakfast it was the same thing everyday.
