This hotel has a marvellous ambiance. It’s a former merchant’s house from the 14th century and the hotel has been sympathetically restored keeping many of the old features. The bar has an amazing medieval mullioned window and the swimming pool is in the vaults under a centuries old brick arched roof.
The hotel won an award for the best restored interior in Europe and the England team chose to stay here for the Euros.
The mediaeval vibe continues in the bedroom with the doors and furniture and beamed roofs but yet it’s ultra modern at the same time.
I really enjoyed my stay here.

Excellent location and very clean. The breakfast was also much better than regular hotel breakfasts.

the rooms were spacious and wonderful, tho a bit dark. I loved the bed. The meals I had there were quite good, tho the breakfast a bit expensive for the limited amount I ate. The staff were all quite friendly and helpful

Overall, it was a very positive experience. Located in an excellent location in the heart of the city
The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The service was high level, and all wishes were quickly fulfilled.
Breakfast was varied and of high quality – there were both hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit and delicious coffee.
A special highlight was the wellness area, which is perfect for relaxing after a long day.
Overall, I highly recommend the Hotel Stary!

Great hotel for Cracow exploring
I stayed at the hotel with my wife in late December and had a very positive experience from start to finish. My interactions with the reception team—both over the phone and in person—were excellent. The staff was consistently professional, kind, and accommodating.
We made use of the spa facilities, which are located below street level and offer a unique, intimate ambiance. It’s a great space to relax, with a calm and soothing atmosphere throughout.
We also had breakfast at the hotel, which featured a well-stocked selection of items. Once again, the staff stood out for their friendliness and attentiveness.
The bar deserves special mention. The two bartenders I encountered—a gentleman and a lady—were clearly well-trained and prepared excellent drinks. The bar itself offers an impressive selection of high-end spirits, easily meeting the expectations of even discerning guests.
The location is a major advantage. The hotel is just a short walk from the Old Town square and Sukiennice, and the train station is no more than a 10–12 minute walk away. It’s truly a strategically situated property.
All staff members spoke excellent English, which made the stay even more comfortable. I had previously stayed at this brand’s location in Łódź, which is what drew me to book here—and it did not disappoint.
We will definitely be returning.
