Loved this hotel! The amenities were unique and thoughtful and the staff were very helpful. We enjoyed both the courtyard and the rooftop terrace. Conveniently located close to the underground station with easy access to all the sights we wanted to see. Would absolutely stay here again when we return to Berlin

Nice location in town - but not a return

Fancy - but overpriced breakfast. Please note that you can only choose one dish on the menu tab - we were not aware of this before we arrived. Therefore opted out of breakfast at the hotel for the rest of the holiday. Last day we had no towels in the bathroom when we were going to shower - and the reception did not answer the phone. Fortunately found towels on one of the floors. The hotel's location in the city is quite nice - in a lively area - and close to good dining in Prenzlauerberg.

An excellent indpendent with a sense of humour

An excellent find. Well placed in Mitte and an independent with style and charm. delightful staff, comfortable and well equipped rooms. Great atmosphere in reception and bar area on ground floor. Big shower, not a ridiculous cubicle. Will stay again. Breakfast perhaps a weak point - go across the road to any of the bakeries and cafes

Lots of light, but also lots of shadows

The location of the hotel with the tram and subway right at the front door is very comfortable. Our room "The Balcony" and the bathroom (with plenty of shelf space and a spacious shower cabin) left nothing to be desired. - Negative points include the non-existent breakfast buffet. Instead, you can either have breakfast in the hotel itself (at the leased hotel bar) at a very high price with a limited selection - which is offered exclusively in English. My wife and I only "treated" ourselves to this once for 48.80 EUR. Even the alternatives in the immediate vicinity recommended by the hotel at the time of booking could not entice us. For us, the 7 days at The Circus Hotel had therefore already begun with a dampened mood. Another negative point is that everything else in the hotel is communicated exclusively in English (except for a few staff members at the reception, with whom we were able to communicate in German). We felt like strangers in our own country while in Germany. Since the rooms are only cleaned every 4 days as a standard (unless you request otherwise in advance), it is not surprising that dust and dirt could be found in some places in the room (e.g., a bottle cap under the carpet, a lot of dust under the nightstands) and especially on the unfortunately very neglected balcony (for example, there were 2 bones lying here and the plants seemed to be dying).

The hotel is in a great location for transport. Rooms that face to the courtyard are quieter than the road facing rooms. The superior double room is a good size, has a comfy bed and decent shower. It also has a refrigerator.
Importantly, the hotel has an ecological heating and cooling system, and not traditional air conditioning. It was up to 37 degrees when we stayed and this was too warm for the system to work well (we were floor 4).
The windows opened wide and a fan was provided but it was still very warm at night. Luckily it cooled off as our week went on. There are outside window blinds, but these seemed to open at random, meaning I woke up quite early to the light coming in on some mornings.
I like the quirky little animations of the hotel branding, and its ecological approach such as minimising disposable plastics and making you ask if you want the room made up instead of just doing it daily.
I would very much recommend this hotel except for during a heatwave.
