Basic and clean, good value

Dublin seems to be a place where reasonably priced accommodation is lacking, and DCU Glasnevin was reasonably priced when I was searching for rooms. And to be honest it was okay.
It is of course within the university and therefore is student accommodation. However, it was clean , comfortable and well priced with bus services to and from the city at the entrance.
The room I had was quite small, but I was only using it to sleep and shower so was not overly bothered. It was clean and comfortable. My mate however had an issue with his door not locking, which we had to report.
The breakfast which was included was good, with plenty of options and there are various facilities on site such as a Londis store and also a pharmacy.
If I was going to Dublin with my wife, I wouldn’t stay here ( she is fussy!) but if I was here for a gig or as for this trip, a football match I would be more than happy to book again.

Student accommodation - fine if you’re OK with being treated like a student.

It’s student accommodation and, by the standards of student accommodation, it’s reasonable. You should expect to be treated like a student. If you lock yourself out of your room, you will be charged (fined?) €5 for a temporary replacement card. I forgot my breakfast voucher and was charged at the restaurant but told I could show the receipt and exchange a voucher for a refund. At reception I was told this was not true. “Why would we give you a refund?” I was told. Evidently, “because I’ve already paid and have now paid twice” was not convincing. So, obviously, it’s not a hotel. No one will service your room and you will be treated as a vexatious necessary evil, but you’ll save money. Up to you!

Night from hell

The room itself was clean and that was about it. The apartment complex that it is situated in is an absolute dump and smells awful. The keycard for the door didn't even work and we ended up getting stuck in the elevator. Luckily, someone tried to use the lift and ended up opening the doors on the other side or else we could have been stuck there for hours. The walls are paper thin and we could hear someone coughing and clearing their throat all night. The shower door needs to be fixed asap as it is impossible to open/close. The place is also very overpriced for what you're getting.

The place ain’t a three star. So much room for improvement is needed!!!!

We had booked the room for six nights. The price of the room was inclusive of the breakfast and the facilities website shows that they provide a swimming pool and gym too. It came as a surprise to us that the breakfast was a coupon card for 10 euros and 38 cents. So during breakfast one ought to really think of what goes on their plate or then just pay an extra dime for a proper balanced breakfast! The hygiene was poor, not only to the rooms but also the cafeteria. Trays were so dirty and so were the cutleries. It’s very important to ensure proper hygiene especially in a big facility that feeds a huge crowd of people ! House keeping which was supposed to be a daily routine, only happened twice within the six days we were there! If the rooms and the place is operated by students, maybe they could ought to reduce the prices for the rooms!

Mould/disappointing

Appalling, no blinds or curtains spoke to reception twice, eventually moved to another room few hours before having to leave for airport. If you know you have guests would you not check the room prior to renting out, one of the basics as a hotel.
