Three days after my Ashes trip
Three day stay following an Ashes trip. I have visited Cottesloe several times, it remains one of my favourite places anywhere. I decided to stay after my cricket trip. It was the very opposite of a city hotel stay!
I was greeted by David who checked me in and explained what was where and that they had beach chairs, stand up paddle boards and bicycles available for guests to use.
I was allocated room 1 with sea view. There is a pub on the ground floor serving reasonably priced pub grub, I had fish and chips whilst I was there, really good.
There is a quiz every Thursday night, so I joined in. The bar is really lively, with the sea view balcony being an ideal spot for a bit of people watching.
The room was clean with water provided and replenished daily.
The location of the hotel is ideal for any beach lovers, with a lovely beach just metres away.
There is also a lounge at the rear of the premises, I did pop in one morning but as I was the only one there can’t say much about this.

Terrible food
Haven't been to Cottesloe for years, went for a birthday treat, beach & lunch. Ordered squid from the verandah bar, probably the worst squid I've ever had. Tiny shrivelled overcooked pieces with no taste whatsoever, very disappointing. Told the waitress, nothing happened, what a surprise!

Stunning View, Let Down by Disappointing Food
We visited the Verandah Bar last Saturday night, and the setting really is hard to beat. It was a beautiful evening and the view was incredible. We had just finished walking around Sculptures by the Sea, so by the time we arrived we were both very thirsty and hungry.
Unfortunately, the experience didn’t start well. When we arrived, it took around half an hour for the previous guests’ plates to be cleared from our table, which was frustrating given how busy and popular the venue clearly is.
On a positive note, I was impressed by the on-tap beer selection, and we very much enjoyed our first cold pint while taking in the view — easily the highlight of the visit.
We then ordered some food: chips and salt and pepper calamari. After paying $14 for a bowl of chips, our expectations were reasonable, but sadly the food was a let-down. What arrived was half a bowl of lukewarm chips and a plate of soggy, cold calamari, which was disappointing given the price and the location.
Overall, the Verandah Bar delivers on atmosphere and views, but the slow service and poor-quality food really took away from what could have been a great evening. It’s a lovely spot for a drink, but based on our experience, I’d think twice about ordering food.

Get an Ocean view room and chill
We loved the Cottesloe Beach Hotel - straight off the plane on a Friday afternoon the front bar was humming. A short wait and then such a lovely warm welcome from reception staff. We carried out suitcases upstairs and then to our beachfront double and a view to die for. The room was like dated but look out the window and love it. Old carpet and a bit dated bathroom but such a nice vibe with great staff, cold beer and cocktails downstairs. Great beach access with chairs and umbrellas one can take. Super cool and super nice and the noise not too bad. Great intro to Australia. Dont expect lux but if you want a great beach and chilled vibe then stay here.

David on reception was amazingly helpful and is a credit to the company. He also arranged an upgrade to our room which was incredibly kind to room 16. It has a huge balcony with a gorgeous sea view. The bed and pillows super comfy, very nice shower, and huge TV, not that we watched it. The room was also very clean
