Severe hygiene issues (cockroaches) and completely ignored by management

I recently stayed at the Hotel Antico Panada in Venice and left feeling incredibly disappointed. While the location of the hotel is admittedly convenient for accessing St. Mark's Square, the standard of cleanliness and customer service was completely unacceptable.During my stay, I faced a severe hygiene issue involving cockroaches in my room, alongside a total lack of basic room cleaning. I brought these unsanitary conditions to the attention of the front desk staff while on-site, expecting a swift resolution or a room change. Unfortunately, nothing was done to address the problem during my stay.Since checking out, I have sent multiple emails directly to the hotel management and their parent group (San Marco Hotels) to seek an acknowledgment of these issues. Shockingly, the hotel administration has completely ignored my messages and refused to respond to my emails.I had to rely on Expedia to intervene just to get a partial refund (through Expedia, not the Hotel) for the poor conditions. While the location is central, I cannot recommend a hotel that suffers from pest issues, fails to clean its rooms, and completely ignores its paying guests when things go wrong. Look elsewhere for a cleaner and more professional stay in Venice.

The hotel was clean and tidy. The staff were polite, helpful and professional.
On the negative side the bed was awful, extremely hard as were the pillows. Very little sleep that took its toll when walking long distances during the day.
Breakfast was poor, very few options and what was available was poor quality.
As above the staff were helpful and I only make these points so the hotel can improve their offering.

Do not book. Bed bugs!

Absolutely not recommended!
We discovered several suspected bed bugs in the room. Despite reporting it to the front desk, we were not offered another room, only additional bed sheets. Out of fear, we barely slept.
The breakfast was also disappointing: no fresh rolls and only a very small selection.
For us, the stay was a nightmare. We are definitely not coming back.

Very disappointing stay. I do not recommend this hotel.
I booked a room for two nights, but when I arrived I discovered there was no refrigerator. I asked the reception if I could change to another room, but they refused and said it was not their problem.
The hotel is very old, poorly maintained, and far below expectations. The room was extremely dirty, the bed was unclean and had a very unpleasant smell, and the bathroom had insects. I took photos as evidence.
The reception staff were also very rude and unhelpful whenever I asked for assistance.
After checking out, I developed severe itching on my skin and now I need to see a dermatologist. I cannot say for certain what caused it, but it started after staying at this hotel.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I would not stay here again and I do not recommend it to anyone.
