History on your doorstep

Once again we are back to enjoy the superb hospitality Selenes Pansiyon offers. We keep coming back here because the food never disappoints, whether it's breakfast or dinner the quality is always superb and the ingredients are fresh and local. There is a wealth of local history with new archaeology emerging every time we come. The walking in the hills around and behind the village is fantastic whether you are here in the Spring or the Autumn. There is always a superb selection of bird life to see, even in the Autumn. Within a couple of hours of this location are numerous important and fascinating archeological sites. I would suggest that when you book the Pansiyon, enquire about day trips to places like Prime or Miletus, you can even go as far as Ephesus. This location is perfect as a base for a 4 or 5 day visit far away from crowds.
We will be back

The area is private, accommodation is inadequate.

As a tour guide with 15 years of experience in the industry, I examine the destinations where I have vacationed and worked from different perspectives.
Bafa is a special region with its historical and natural features; however, it has generally remained neglected. The signage is insufficient, and the remains are in need of restoration. You can see ancient artifacts; however, accessing prehistoric rock paintings and churches is impossible without assistance. The locals are helpful; they greet you warmly. I would especially like to thank Ali Ağabey, the owner of the upper coffee shop in Kapıkırı, for his support in this matter. Besides being hospitable, he is also very knowledgeable.
Apart from cleanliness and location, the hotel doesn't really offer value for money. Except for my sister, there's a general feeling of weariness. There wasn't even a second roll of toilet paper, hotel slippers, or a trash can in the rooms. The toilet in the room I used was leaking excessively; I mentioned it upon arrival, and they said they would fix it, but the problem persisted. There is information that there is an internet connection; however, it wasn't mentioned. To be honest, I didn't ask either. Breakfast and lunch services, like the service in general, are careless. A fish dish should include at least two pieces of greenery as a garnish. These kinds of small touches don't cost anyone money; on the contrary, they make the guest feel valued. Portion sizes are generally small as well.
I strongly advise anyone planning to stay at a hotel to confirm everything beforehand, including any information found online. This situation creates a disturbing effect, contrary to the holiday spirit. The website states, for example, that campers get a 15% discount at the restaurant; however, it says this doesn't apply to those staying in rooms. That's why I paid 5,000 lira for two nights' dinner for two people, including two double shots of raki. The explanation was initially that the campers were students, then it was stated that the aim was to encourage campers to use the restaurant. Later, an announcement was made stating that the room rate had already been reduced from 8,000 per night, but the prices are already clearly displayed on booking websites.
If I were to visit the area again, I would definitely choose the nearest tourist areas to receive more professional service. It's nice for a peaceful stroll, but not very suitable for accommodation. It's waiting. You can see ancient artifacts; however, accessing prehistoric rock paintings and churches is impossible without assistance. The locals are helpful; they greet you warmly. Not worth it

We didn’t stay at the pension but had breakfast there (Menemen - that was undercooked with the cheapest bread - for 250 tl - like in Izmir) and took a boat trip which cost 200tl/person with around 25-30 ppl on the boat (while a private boat is 2000tl) and that wasn’t a trip coz we only went to one place, a monastery to which you can actually walk on foot with not a single shade where the capitán left us for 1 hr. It was hot, unpleasant and definitely was not worth even 200 tl.

Where history, nature and pleasure meet

A unique experience with old stone buildings in nature, magnificent views and walking paths. The cuisine is full of delicious flavors, everything is natural. At the same time, even the boat tour I took above the sky of Bafa is enough reason to come here. It is one of the rare places where you can stay in touch with history. The business becomes even more enjoyable with Mr. Kubilay and his team. Thank you for everything.
