Great. Coming back.

The hotel is located in a wonderful location with lovely views of Lake Vättern. The hotel not only offers rooms, they have bar, billiards, darts, table tennis, boul etc. and pinball games that I like. Breakfast buffet with most things and good dinner. The staff are very friendly and helpful when you need help with anything.

Ok. But expensive ratio to standard.

Overall:
Need a renovation. Smells a little bad. Bad beds and pillows. Relatively expensive for the standard. Fridge and sparkling/plain water outside the room which was thankful.
Good location at the fortress.
Restaurant:
Free light dinner. Chose not to eat. Would have been grateful if you lived there on a weekday and traveled for work.
Breakfast, quite simple but tasty.
Room:
Okay but price did not really match standard.
Staff:
Very nice!
Experienced as a simple roadside motel and suited well for us who travelled past Karlsborg and only stayed one night.

Beneath all criticism!

The rooms were quite okay but the service and food was beneath contempt. The staff were disengaged and lacking in skills. The owner of the hotel unpleasant and complete lack of being serviseminded. Will never go there again or recommend. A place with great potential but unfortunately the wrong owner.

A nice hotel, but no AC and terrible customer service.
I paid double to get a room at this hotel, since it claimed to be 4 star, and I drove an hour extra.
When arriving at 11 pm, my room was 32 C hot. No AC, no fan, and opening the windows didn't help much, but letting in a lot of insects. At 4 am the room temp was down to 27 C and I could fall asleep for a couple of hours.
I travel immensely and I am easy going and don't ask for much. If I have any major issue, I always talk to the staff, to give them a a chance to compensate for any problem etc. A room where I can sleep is necessary though.
When I courteously approached the front desk (manager Annika), she was very rude, and not the least interested in listening. Continuously interrupting me, talking over me, not listening at all, she just let me know that it was just as hot in her home. I politely told her that all I expected was a room to sleep in. I didn't pay 1200 SEK more, for a supposedly 4 star hotel, to get the room and accomodation she has at home. Everybody can make a mistake, but when I calmly and courteously tried to talk it through, I was basically just shouted at. Such people should not work with service or customers. One of the worst ever (of thousands of hotel night, worldwide). Stay away from this hotel! Expensive and the worst service ever. Faulty Towers in real life.

Mediocre food and long wait

The review applies to restaurant. We were there 14 people and all got food different times. The last was fed an hour after the first. Disengaged and unsympathetic staff. The food didn't taste very good. Everyone left with a bad experience.
