My visit to Jädraas

I spent the weekend from the 19th until the 21st August, 2022 at the STF Jädraas Herrgard. This hostel is a friendly, clean establishment located beside a lake and in pleasant wooded surroundings. This hostel is also very close to the museum railway, the Jädraas Tallas Järnväg, perfect for those interested in vintage railways.
This hostel has it's own kitchen facilities and fridges for one food and drinks. There is also a washing machine available for those who need to do laundry.
As well as the museum railway one can explore the trails through the surrounding woodland as well as check out the former blast furnace (Hyttan) and the nearby forge (Smedjan}.
The main drawback is that Jädraas sparsely served by public transport. On Monday's to Friday's there are only 2 return bus services from Sandviken and 2 from Ockelbo. On Saturday's and Sunday's there is no public transport. Therefore it is essential that your accomodation is booked in advance prior to coming to Jädraas if you are depending on public transport to get you there.
Also this establishment does not provide breakfast so one needs to obtain their own food and drinks from the nearby shop and petrol station. Also anyone who likes beer, wine, etc would need to obtain their alcoholic beverages from the Systems Bolaget in Gävle, Sandviken or Ockelbo prior to coming to Jädraas. The local shop only sells beer with a maximum of 3.5% alcohol. In Sweden shops and supermarkets cannnot sell spirits, wine, or cider, only beer with a max 3.5% alcohol.
The shop and petrol station will have a restaurant section which will be open from October, 2022 onwards.

As you write, our facility is based on self-catering, although we offer both breakfast and catering for groups that rent the entire Manor House and possibly more of our buildings. Great location and surroundings. World class dinner and party at the ironwork!!

Had a fantastic weekend together with some 40 other friends when we rented the whole place. Great location, great surroundings and very friendly hosts who helped us organize a lot of activities locally. Still, the absolute highlight was the fantastic dinner and party the arranged for us in the old ironworks nearby. A truly world class experience!

Magic weekend in Jadraas

We rented one whole house of the hostel for 2 familys.
The personel was really looking out for our best and helped out in every possible way with tips and a helping hand + the extra mile.
The breakfast was awesome and had even flexibility( we got extra pancakes). Walking distance to 2 different cross-country-skiing-tracks. Cute village.
