A Hidden Gem Near the Redwoods — Listen to Your Host!
My husband and I stayed at the Hydrangea Inn while visiting Redwood National Park, and it was one of the most thoughtfully hosted stays we've ever experienced.
When I called to book, Renee asked what brought us to the area. When she learned we were visiting the Redwoods, she recommended several locations that weren't listed in any of our research — not in guidebooks, not on travel sites. Her suggestions were so good we extended our stay to a second night and still couldn't fit everything in.
The bungalow was spotless and cozy. Contactless check-in was seamless — a welcome bag awaited us with maps, brochures, the room key, parking instructions, and a note about breakfast. Renee had asked about dietary needs when I booked, and the next morning a wonderful breakfast arrived in a basket on our porch, with a note that someone would collect the dishes later. While we were out hiking, the bed was made, fresh towels were set out, and a warm chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron pan was waiting on the counter.
On Renee's recommendation, we explored Rockefeller Forest and Prairie Creek Redwood State Forest, along with several trails in each. We would have missed so much incredible beauty had we stuck only to the National Park itself.
Everything about this stay felt personal and genuine. We never met Renee or her staff face-to-face, but we felt genuinely cared for from the first phone call to the moment we left. Highly, highly recommend — and when you book, ask Renee what to see in the Redwoods.

Hydrangea Inn was a gem in Eureka!
The host Rene, made our stay very special. The room was very clean and comfortable. She provided meany options for site seeing in the area. The breakfasts were delicious with more than enough food.

A wonderful place!
We spent two nights at the Inn and loved it! We had the upstairs floor all to ourselves, and Renee had thought of everything to make it a wonderful experience - private, quiet, clean, organized and homey. We got a delicious breakfast of eggs, fruit, yogurt and juice each morning, and a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie one afternoon was a delightful surprise! The location is also ideal - a 5-7 minute drive from downtown, but on a very quiet and beautiful street so it isn't noisy at all. We would definitely recommend this place!

What a gem!
My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights at the Hydrangea Inn. What a gem of a place. We had the cottage out back. Small, cozy, and everything you need. It was very comfortable and quiet. Renee is a wonderful host, and provides a delicious hot breakfast every morning (piping hot quiche, fresh berries, yogurt, orange juice, and even milk for your coffee). The main home is gorgeous, and while the grounds were not in bloom yet, you can tell it’s going to be spectacular! Next time we visit family in Eureka we will definitely book here. This location was the highlight of our road trip.

Nice spot to call home while in the Redwoods
We stayed 2 nights at the Hydrangea Inn, and we were so glad we were able to call this spot home while traveling in the Redwoods. It’s located a bit aways from the true downtown of Eureka, which I was honestly grateful for, as you’re a bit away from the highway and lots of noise. This is very residential, but you can still walk to a nice strip of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed ice cream from a local place one night and dinner at the Diver Bar & Grill another night, all walking distance. The accommodation is in a lovely home, and you get a ton of space - a full living room, kitchen, and then a bedroom on top of that! There’s also a lovely patio out back that I wish we had the chance to take advantage of. The host is very easy to communicate with, and she prepared breakfasts with such care. Breakfast is delivered to your room in a basket, and everything is fresh and hot! Note that your parking will be on the street, but we had no issue getting a spot right in front either of our two nights. Thanks for a lovely stay!
