Little gem
This hotel is a little Gem. It is close to all amenities but far enough to be in a quiet residential area. The rooms are very comfortable and decorated with beautiful furniture. The people of the hotel are the nicest people you will meet and the restaurant on site is very good

Nice property but outdated amenities
Zylan is a lovely property with decent restaurants but as a hotel its amenities seem outdated. I had booked the Deluxe room w Balcony. The balcony & the bathroom were huge but sadly the AC was not working and we had to take a downgrade to the ground floor room without a balcony as that was the only "accessible" option (the other one would mean taking two flights of stairs for my elderly mother). So we could barely enjoy the lovely balcony in our first room.
The Deluxe room without balcony wasn't properly cleaned before we were moved in. The floor was dusty, the safety deposit locker didn't lock and I found somebody else's cobweb of hair in the shower. Also, the water bottles they provide have a very strong bleaching smell.
The hotel did try to make up for the room change by giving us complimentary breakfast at their restaurant the next morning but the service was really slow. The waiter left us with a basket of bread for over 25 minutes before arriving with the eggs and the fruits were served at the end of the meal instead of the beginning. Their dinner service was far better.
The property itself is beautiful with lots of calming elements, has a decent rooftop restaurant, a small pool and seems it serves better as a restaurant than a hotel. I do highly appreciate the biodegradable toilet paper, toiletries and the front desk's help in confirming wheelchair service at the airport.

A beautiful and serene oasis in the heart of the city Zylan Boutique hotel was the highlight of our stay in Colombo.
We spent two nights here in an executive spa suite and loved our whole experience. The staff, especially Nimal the head of housekeeping, are so attentive and friendly taking time to make sure everything was perfect for our stay. The room (and bathroom) were huge, very clean and had everything we could want. The hotel has several food options from sushi to delicious breakfasts and an amazing rooftop bar and pool. In fact you don’t need to leave unless you want to get out and explore Colombo. We highly recommend staying here and will certainly return for another visit one day.
