Great quiet small hotel

Great small hotel with quiet pool and good location. Helpful staff - Dilum organised lots of transport as well as great surf lessons with Surfoholics. Is drop in gentle yoga next door at 8.30 every morning.

Room was fine lots of space good shower let down by poor service and exceptionally poor breakfast 3 nights minimum wait 40 minutes for poor food on greasy plates

More shabby than chic

We ended up staying a night at Abode Ahangama - and a lot must have changed since it first opened. It now bears almost no relation to the pictures on the various sites that feature it . It is now way more shabby than chic - and most of us who stayed there over the last few days agreed, with almost no one wanting to return.
While it is well positioned, a lovely building and the pool is lovely it is easy to overlook some really basic things:
• There is mould and peeling paint and scuff marks everywhere and bits falling off doors.
• It's really dirty - even the mosquito net round the bed was grey and needed a wash and the loo seat was scratched and had ingrained dirt
• Duvets are tired, stained and sheets full of holes
• Air con leaks heavily (had to put a bowl beneath it during the night)
• Breakfasts are mean - what promised to be mashed avocado on sourdough turned out to be very thinly spread avocado on white processed bread.
• There is literally no one around to ask for anything.
• There are no bedside lights
• Helping yourself to a hot water urn and powdered coffee - all felt a bit cheap for the price paid.

Overall, the hotel feels calm, comfortable, and well designed.

had stayed at Abode Mumbai a few years ago and really loved it, so when I saw Abode in Ahangama, I decided to book it in Sri Lanka as well.
The location is excellent. It’s close to all the cafés and places Ahangama is known for, and you can easily walk to many of them. The staff were genuinely warm and helpful and always happy to arrange a tuk-tuk if needed.
Breakfast was simple but very fresh. You choose from the menu, and it’s served with fruit and juice, which I liked. Everything felt thoughtfully done without being over the top.
The pool was a big plus for me. It’s well maintained and a great place to relax after being out during the day. The staff were great overall, and a special mention to Mishika, who went over and above to help me arrange a surprise birthday breakfast for my husband.

A real oasis of well-being in a beautiful setting

A very beautiful and rewarding place to enjoy nature and recharge your batteries. A real oasis of well-being in a beautiful setting. The room was changed spontaneously by the manager when we were not happy with the first room offered without a balcony. Very nice and clean pool. The food is very good, all the staff are kind, friendly and courteous.
