Verdant in the concrete jungle of Singapore
The Initial Sama Residences, Evans Road: All-encompassing wellness sanctuary - The Initial Sama Residences is a familiar Balinese wellness living concept transplanted to the west side of Singapore. Bali worshippers who throng the likes of Canggu and Seminyak might be familiar with the digital nomad lifestyle and wellness residence concept – gym, bath houses / sauna, spa and F&B offering healthy eats. A new wellness movement throws up wellness cities and sanctuaries that offer longevity, telemedicine and medical facilities to attract the medical tourism audiences. The Initial Sama has a clinic and dental clinic onsite – cutting close to it. Space is a constant theme and contrast here. Rooms feel cosy because of the low ceilings in the 4 heritage blocks. But head out into the courtyard and the resplendent pool area and you feel like you’re whisked to a resort where space is of abundance. This is the first of a kind in Singapore so if you wish to enjoy the Balinese wellness residence comforts in Singapore, this is it.
The on-premises spa is another wellness chapter. It’s inviting, clinically clean and cosy. Pre-treatment drink serve is alchemic fun – a lemon popsicle served with butterfly pea flower leaves tea. Dip the popsicle in for colour and a mood change. You get not just 1, but 3 choices of massage oils – carefully blended for an extraordinary lift. This is something I haven’t encountered before. My 60 min massage was blissfully performed by Nora. Service is always warm, cordial and chirpy from Nora and Nara – the latter even offered to walk me around the grounds. The first-class lounge chairs in the post treatment lounge were another novelty. Recline or sink into the plush seats – you’re treated to a platter of healthy snacks and tea while you reconnect with your senses. If you chance upon the lovely Rosalind – Director of wellness, you get a lovely download of the residences, wellness offerings and the narratives.
The Initial Sama Residences might not be a new concept in the wellness movement but it certainly is a first in our concrete jungle. #eatstylishtravelstylish

We had such a wonderful stay here with our children, and looking back, I feel that this residence was a big part of what made our time in Singapore so special.
It is a cozy and intimate place, which made our stay feel even more personal and comfortable. The facilities had everything we needed for an extended stay and were thoughtfully arranged, so living here with children was easy and convenient.
What we appreciated most, however, was the people. The manager and every member of the staff we met were genuinely warm, kind, and attentive. Their hospitality made us feel very well cared for throughout our stay.
I also loved the interiors — a beautiful balance of contemporary sensibility and classic elegance. It was not only comfortable to live in, but also aesthetically pleasing in a quiet, understated way, which made coming back each day a pleasure.
We made many happy memories with our children during our time in Singapore, and this lovely place will always be part of those memories. My sincere thanks to the manager and the entire team for making our stay so warm and memorable. We would be very happy to return.

Bad Services ❌
I am very disappointed with the service at this hotel. I had clearly turned on the “cleaning room” indicator and even informed the receptionist in the morning to make sure my room would not be skipped. Unfortunately, this was completely ignored.
When I returned, the room was still in the exact same messy condition as if no housekeeping had attended to it at all. The bed was left unmade, and even the towel was left on the bathroom floor.
This clearly shows a lack of coordination and supervision from the management team. Honestly, it makes me question the purpose of having a “cleaning room” feature if there is no proper follow-up or routine checking.
This level of service is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I strongly hope the management takes this seriously and ensures that guest requests are actually carried out, not ignored.
