Incredible stay at Ubucuti

We had the most wonderful stay at Ubucuti lodge. Jojo completely made our stay with her attention to our every want and need and made us feel like family. The food was great, the rooms and pool area are so beautiful. The service is truly outstanding - every single staff member was kind, helpful and warm. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others and if you come, we recommend the village tour that Jojo took us on while staying at the lodge.

Amazing stay

Amazing stay! The rooms were very clean, the staff were welcoming, and the view near Lake Kivu was beautiful. Breakfast was fresh and service was excellent. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the area.

Stylish, but nothing else

Unfortunately, only stylish elements and very modern furnishings are important here. Lots of staff who don't listen when the guest expresses a wish. The pool has very murky water and the pool boy has no idea about the water treatment. Guests with smaller vehicles must park outside the guard. Room with lake view is spacious but the bathroom area is only separated by a curtain. The venting is poor and the air conditioning very sluggish without air exchange. The furniture is stylish the ambient lighting great, but in the bathroom area not sufficient and it becomes more of a dark hole. The great bathtub is inexpedient, the filling takes forever. Breakfast is not useful if you want to operate at an international level. Egg dishes can be enjoyed by anyone who offers products, such as ham, only fried. Cheese is rather mawkish, the toast burned, the cake is good.
A big delusion that can be spared and the price/performance ratio is very poor. The view of the lake is spectacular.

The setting remains superb, but the kitchen is no longer there...

After a first experience really living up to the prices, I went back twice – once for a family dinner and another for a business lunch. The first visit had been excellent: refined dishes, impeccable wines, and an atmosphere that fully justified the reputation of the place.
Unfortunately, the next two times were a huge disappointment. Meanwhile, we learned that the lodge had changed management, and it was clearly felt: the meal had become commonplace, almost ordinary, without the slightest gastronomic touch that once made a difference. The once spectacular menu has become poorer, while prices have remained exorbitant.
This is a shame, because the location on the heights of Gisenyi offers an exceptional setting and immense potential. Unless there is a radical change of direction, this place unfortunately seems to have lost its soul. The only point that remains impeccable: the service, always impeccable and professional.

Best experience in a long time.

Awesome place, views, food and service. You would not think you are in Africa. The property is so well finished, you think you are in another part of the world, large bedrooms sizes and modern bathrooms. Infinity pool is very nice touch, and massage are also very affordable. Seems there will be sauna and jacuzzi addition soon. Can't wait to visit again soon. There is a tranquility that you feel when you are there that you cannot find anywhere else.
