A hidden gem where history meets modern tranquility

We spent two wonderful nights at the beautiful Assumar Country House, and it was exactly the peaceful escape we were looking for. From the moment we arrived, we felt less like guests and more like old friends being welcomed into a home. Hilde and Walt are incredibly warm and attentive hosts who clearly pour their hearts into creating a special experience.
The house itself is full of charm, featuring a simple, organic décor that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, elegant and relaxed without being pretentious. It is fascinating to stay in such a historic place. Knowing it served as a transit house (Estalagem) between Lisbon and Madrid back in 1767 adds such a unique layer to the stay.
Highlights included the stunning swimming pool and the incredible tranquility of the property, which made disconnecting from daily life effortless. To top it off, breakfast was fresh, delicious, and prepared with such care. We left feeling completely refreshed and would love to return.

Wonderful weekend

Ideal for those looking for days of calm and relaxation, whether in a couple or a trip of friends. Excellent conditions, excellent pool and an exceptional hospitality, wonderful breakfast, with fresh products and homemade sweets.

This is a bed and breakfast with that little bit more.. super nice. spacious, clean and cool rooms.. a luxurious breakfast, served on the terrace by the lovely host Walt. He'll make sure you don't want for anything. (Hilde was unfortunately not there, but she had provided super delicious gluten-free bread and cinnamon rolls)
Highly recommended

Home away from Home

Assumar County House is a great place for a quiet getaway and chilling. It's an old typical Alentejo House, all renovated, everthing is extremely tasteful, thoughtful and cute. Has a great green space around and a pool. Walter was very kind and gave us good activity and food reccomendations, namely the waterfall Pego do Inferno. We felt very welcomed and relaxed, which was the goal. Highly reccomend !

Beautiful Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this charming accommodation. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally clean, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making sure we had everything we needed. One of the highlights of our stay was the lovely pool and garden area. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind in a peaceful atmosphere.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. If you’re looking for a quiet, clean, and comfortable place with a personal touch, I would highly recommend Assumar Country House.
