A Great Base for Trolltunga Hiking Trips
Had a lovely stay at the hotel. Conveniently located a couple of minutes walk from the bus stop where both the Trolltunga shuttle(s) and the bus heading to/from Voss pickup/drop off.
Great views of the water from the hotel and the same view from inside the sauna made for such a relaxing summer evening. The staff were super friendly and always had a smile and a cheery manner to them. They were more than happy to answer any questions about Trolltunga trips and about other things to do in the local area too.
Overall I found it a really lovely place to stay for my trip. Many thanks to the team at Tyssedal Hotel!

Tyssedal hotel does not meet
Nice hotel, twin room good, clean and quite new, but single room was far below standard, fragile chair, bed worn out and shower cabinet hanged together. There was a shortage of elevator and ramp to pull suitcases up, the top floor is heavy to carry suitcases up the stairs. Little parking outside, so far to pull suitcases from parked car below hotel. It was different with the jacuzzi, but it is a small one, ig in competition with children so there will be little space here. Breakfast fair price on single room is not in comparison with the standard, overpriced hotel.

Still, everything was fine. Parking in front of the house. Friendly staff room big enough good breakfast.

NOT as described!
This hotel is soooooo run down run down! Not AT ALL the "exceptional boutique hotel" they claim to be! Our dated bathroom flooded the first time sometime to a bath and had to be serviced and we couldn't keep the windows open because the huge dumpsters under them smelled so terrible! The rooms are drab and cheap and the hallways are covered in old, dirty and stained carpet. Such a different experience than what we thought we were getting. That said, the location is perfect for Trolltunga and the food at the restaurant was very good. The hotel manager was friendly and also quick to help with the bathroom.

Good base for exploring this beautiful area
This is a small but pleasant hotel close by the shore of Sørfjorden, a very beautiful fjord. The room itself was a little dated but the bathroom had been recently refurbished to a good standard. There is a large industrial building nearby but fortunately the room I had did not face this so did not get any noise and you cannot see it from the restaurant. If you can ignore this though it is a very beautiful location and you can watch the waterfalls down from the glacier to the fjord over your meals.
It is a good base for the Trolltunga walk and there are buses from a couple of minutes walk away each morning (a lot cheaper than the parking fee too). The hotel is well set up for this as breakfast is served from early in the morning so you won't be setting out hungry. That said I did ask for a packed lunch the previous evening but the staff the next morning had no record of it, which was a shame, but fortunately you can buy some food at the cafe at the car park for the walk.
The food at the restaurant is good, well presented and the staff friendly and attentive. There are lovely views from it, too. However the price is very high I thought and the choice quite limited (only 4 main courses which don't seem to change each day so if you are staying several nights that might be an issue as there is nowhere else to eat in the village).
I do recommend the area for a longer stay. There is a lot to see. I walked up to the glacier on the other side of the Fjord from the hotel which was strongly recommended, as well as cruises on the fjord and to Odda, Rosendal and Eidfjord all of which are easily accessible by buses from the hotel (though be aware the 991 bus from Voss seems to be usually late, by as much as 40 minutes one day, so do factor that in). Certainly an area that is worth exploring.
