Excellent service.

Very nice and clean room with all facilities.An excellent dinner waiting us at the nearby Barentsburg Hotel with a local beer,next morning a full breakfast was served,all to a reasonable price.Many thanks to the staff at hotel and GoArtica for their excellent service.

Very nice stay

The Hostel Pomor was new, clean and cosy!
They have double or triple rooms. I was the single guest and fot a double room, with two single beds. The showers, toilets and sinks are all in different rooms and shared with all the rooms of the floor. They were new and clean.There is also one kitchen per floor and it has all the needed cookware, including fridge, oven and stove.
They provide bedding and towels. The room was nicely decorated with wooden furniture, pomor patterns on the bedding and the birds of the happiness hanging from the ceiling!
There was no closet in the room but enough space, drawes, shelves and a hook rack.
Heaters and roller blind curtains! So no problem to sleep under midnight sun!
The hostel was almost empty when I was there. Just another guest on my floor and all the guides from the company Arctic travel grumant who live on the first floor.
As in many places in Svalbard, you need to take your shoes off so it is a good idea to bring slippers with you!
The views from my room were not so nice, to the back mountain with some old wood mining constructions.
The reception is located at the hotel which is the building next to the hostel.
Just small things that could be useful at the hostel:
-Towels to wipe the surfaces in the kitchen.
-Common basic ingredients in the kitchen: salt, sugar, oil, species, coffe and tea.
-A coffe making machine
-A toaster
-Some type of chilling common area with sofas or carpets and big pillows to seat down and relax
-Some board games & books about the area
-Bikes
I recommend to stay at the hostel and have a bit longer time to discover Barentsburg than just the 1.5h tour that you do with the daily boat trips.

Clean, warm, cozy

All you need in B-burg after long snowmobile safari is to go into warm shower, dry off your clothes, have a good sleep and a cup of coffee in the morning. All of these you can do here. Small but clean rooms, hot water, good price. All B-burg restoraunts are close, Red Bear Brewery is just next door.

Good place to stay

Basic room but ample, clean shared bathrooms and kitchen. Friendly check-in with a cool bar across the road (and Barentsburg restaurant 50 meters away). The renovated hostel also houses the guides from Grumant and some scientists.

excellent place to stay after trekking from Longyearbyen

The hotel is very clean and very warm - you will probably take of most of your clothes after entering. There's a convenient kitchenette where guests can prepare coffee or tea or even a meal. Showers and toilets are outside of rooms but it's really not a problem. In main building there's a restaurant with good food. Great and probably only place to stay in Barentsburg.
