nice short break with small shortcomings
The hotel is very idyllic in the small village of Krün.
The free parking is a bit scarce when fully occupied.
Our room (junior suite) had balcony with mountain view. Cleanliness perfectly fine. Furnishings partly a bit worn and old-fashioned and the floor plan was a bit "impractical" - so e.g. the TV stood separately in a small adjoining room with uncomfortable sofa corner... otherwise everything was available - safe, refrigerator, toiletries etc.
The pool area urgently needs a renovation - not a feel-good area.
The sauna area for this almost perfect - new, clean, generous and cozy.
Unfortunately only open from 4pm! Ice grotto and pub pool unfortunately out of order.
Staff were friendly throughout.
The small surcharge for half board was absolutely justified.
For dinner a 4-course menu and for breakfast buffet with sufficient choice.

A huge disappointment, never again!
The worst hotel in decades. An unfriendly greeting that has also affected the management or comes from there. My wife was verbally belittled by a woman because when she was unlocking the room, the dog that was waiting there ran past her into the stairwell. Later, other guests told us that it was the junior manager of the hotel. The worst dinner in years, for example, my wife ordered rösti with cheese, and what came was an unidentifiable mass covered with three slices of dried cheese. It was inedible! We then went out to eat for the remaining days. The breakfast buffet was small but sufficient and acceptable. The room we had was very nice, spacious, clean, and had very good beds with plenty of options for storing clothes. Despite the very bad weather in mid-May with snowfall and rain, the small sauna area was only opened in the late afternoon for three hours. Aside from the renovated beautiful room, everything in the hotel has clearly aged.

Very bad
The worst hotel I've visited in the last year.
- unfriendly staff already on arrival..., they have room number....,no welcome.....
- we had booked a junior suite and got a worn-out room which had only one bench. In the tiny no side room there was a television with an impossible seating.
- the shower was small and the water cold
- the food was tastefully on the level of a bad chip shop
- the service......
- the tablecloth dirty - should be changed the next day
- we left after one night wanted to go on holiday for a week

Gone holiday dreams.
We stayed from 3.9.-11.9.24 at the Hotel Alpenhof in Krün.We had booked a suite with balcony and half board. The room furnishing - at least the suite - is already very old and worn out. General to the hotel, the 4 stars are not attached in any way. We are also incomprehensible about the good reviews that influence our selection, for a " family-run hotel ".
A use of the balcony was from 20.00 clock, no longer possible. It was switched on an outdoor lighting, which was laid in 2 rows of light hoses on the rafters above our balcony.
A stay on the balcony was now no longer possible due to the bright lighting and the thereby attracted vermin, also no windows and doors open.
When asked if the lights could not be switched off, the daughter-in-law who was just present told us that we could go to bed, or spend the time until 10 p.m. - switching off the lights - on the terrace, or, if not pleased, also leave tomorrow.
The allotted table for breakfast and dinner was 80 x 80 cm with 10 cm distance to the same adjacent table. Privacy excluded!! Table decoration very loveless! When asked for another table, we were told there was nothing else available. Fortunately, we were able to avoid the terrace in nice weather.
If you were late for breakfast than at 9 a.m., the choice was no longer very large. Fried eggs and bacon were special requests and were charged 3 euros extra.
There was no orange juice.
The half-board meals, 4 course menu, consisted of soup, starter, main course (either meat or 1 vegetarian dish) dessert , and were by no means 4 star level.
Wellness area, except indoor pool, opened only at 4 p.m., until 7 p.m.
We would like to praise the entire staff, whether waiter, waitress or maid. They were friendly and eager to fulfill guest requests, which could not be said of the very rarely present and unfriendly owners.
Payment of the invoice could only be made in cash or ec card. Credit card will incur an additional fee of 5% of the invoice amount.
We cannot recommend the hotel to anyone! Unfortunately!

Nice and very polite personnel, clean rooms, beautiful building & garden/flowers and a great location for hiking and excursions.
Good evening dinner meals.
Breakfast options were limited compared to other Bavarian hotels claiming 4 stars.
Room was not well isolated, could hear the neighbors next door.
A 4 star hotel w/ high cost saving focus?:
Services and facilities did not meet expectations considering the Alpenhofhotel's web promotions.
Restaurant:
There was no restaurant or available bar or area for guests to relax after the limited meal times. Sunday evening was closed, no food available. Information was not provided in the on-line booking confirmation or upon arrival/check-in.
Felt kind of forced to leave the dining area early after meals. Breakfast closes sharp 9:30 a.m. Evening dinner, most guests left the dining room at 7 p.m. and said good night, When guests left a dining table, the light bulb over the table was switched off (never seen this in a hotel?l).
The polite servants asked at 8:30 p.m. if they could close the room and shut off the remaining (very few) lights in the dining room, and we had to leave the dark and empty dining area.
Wellness area:
A main reason for choosing the hotel since the facilities looked good (and probably are good if turned on). Unfortunately only the sauna was turned on for a very limited time (ref. comments from several other guests), a large disappointment.
We question the hotels website promotions and the no. of stars claimed.
