A bit hard to find a parking spot. And breakfast wasnt the best, but everything else was just great!

We had a room on the 4th floor with NO AC!! It was too hot to sleep ! only a small fan supplied by the hotel

Old church in new splendour

The Unique Pearl is indeed a special highlight because of its unique location - the conversion of a former church. Everything is modern and still looks very new. We had a family room which was very spacious and stylishly decorated, the bathroom is very large. The beds were very comfortable. Except for a few small things like the location is not exactly the best. In our room, the bathroom door closed only with a lot of force, smell from the drain in the bathroom, moisture stain on the bathroom ceiling. But I would come back.

An okay hotel. NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS. UNWELCOMING STAFF.

This hotel is an okay hotel, it’s centrally located but the area around the hotel doesn’t look safe nor tourist friendly but Dortmund is not necessarily a beautiful city so I didn’t go expecting much and hotels in certain countries in Europe usually don’t live up to their star rating in my experience. However this isn’t a bad hotel but the bad reviews are true, I was a little skeptic about the only good Expedia reviews because they were all 1 night which seemed fake or done by the hotel to get bookings, but overall this isn’t a bad hotel, with some improvements it has the potential to be an actually 4 star hotel.
The front desk staff needs to be taught about customer service and friendliness working at a front desk and being the face of the hotel, at check in I wasn’t giving any information about the hotel nor surrounding area, just handed a key card, my other encounter with the front desk staff even worst, they all seem unwelcoming and not happy to assist, the only nice staff members I encountered was the housekeeping ladies wearing hijab and the guy at breakfast asking for room numbers.
My room was actually clean, but the bathroom smelled bad which some drainage would fix, the toilet and the face basin are too low so if you’re older or have back problems, this might be a problem. There is no light directly in the shower and no shelf. The pillows on the bed smells too, which some febreeze would fix or simply wash them. Housekeeping comes way too early in the mornings, people on vacation or a getaway aren’t interested in waking up 8:30 to let someone in to clean. The rooms are also not soundproof, most nights I couldn’t sleep or got woken by noise from other guests (of course can’t blame the hotel for other guests being inconsiderate) but the rooms are advertised as soundproof, they’re not, in the hallway I heard everything, toilets being flushed and guests in their rooms too.
The breakfast was also disappointing, I had only once because there was no fresh fruits or anything healthy, just the typical generic German breakfast, I only enjoyed some tea. Better to go to one of the little cafes near by, spend less than 16€ and get a better breakfast. Overall I would only recommend this hotel for short term stays, I booked for 17 night and only stayed for 7, if you’re looking for 4 star quality, you will not get it at this hotel. Personally I wouldn’t book there again because of the area and the staff, I’ve stayed in better hotels in Dortmund.

The room was functional and warm, which after a day riding a motorbike in the rain was very welcome. Hot drinks are free in reception, which was also very welcome. A very easy walk into the city centre, which is vibrant and full of shops to suit all needs. Hotel is not the easiest to find and parking in an issue. Would I book again….doubtful.
