Small-sized but good attention to detail
-It's quiet. It's built like a house and the stairs are carpeted. I am a very light sleeper but I never hear people leave in the morning.
-Breakfast is just fine, especially if you're working in the area. It's typical of a German hotel: bread rolls, cheese, lunchmeat slices, muesli, yoghurt, and a bowl of sliced fruit. There's usually a bowl of apples or similar too.
-Price-wise, it's good value for money, especially if you want a short commute in Burscheid and don't want to have to go further away to Cologne or Duesseldorf.
-Wifi is free and speedy.
-They have a parking lot, as long as there's not a wedding or something similar, there is plenty of space.
-There is a restaurant there, so you can stay in and enjoy a meal.
-The business manager is fully fluent in English and very helpful and attentive to make sure that you have everything you need for breakfast, your bill, etc.
Note:
-As a small local hotel--they do lock the front door overnight. The kitchen stops taking orders at 10 so the staff is usually there until 10.45 or 11. You have a 2nd key which will cover you until then. After that time, they put on the deadbolt, so you need to call to be let in, and the owners prefer that you pre-warn them if this is going to be the case.
-Wednesday is 'quiet day', a normal thing in Germany for smaller hotels, restaurants, etc., so the workers get their day off as they work weekends. It can mean that you need to coordinate your arrival time if you arrive/leave on a Wednesday, as it's only skeleton staff (mainly the owner) who is present. In particular, the owner does not really speak much English, so if you have any complex requirements, it is better to pre-coordinate by email with the business manager or to save them for a different day.

Overbooked
I pre-booked and the email told me that it was only booked until 18.00 until I booked with a credit card. So I sent my credit card and received a confirmation email that all was ok.
I emailed that I would arrive betwen 20-21. This should be ok as the restaurant is open past 21. I received a confirmation that all was ok.
I arrived at 20.45 (flight late) and waited as they futzed around trying to figure out why they had no key even though my name was on the reservation list and they asked what time I would like breakfast.
They had two young people who apologized and said they were overbooked and would now need to call another hotel.
So I ended up paying £30 more per room for a crappy room next to the road, with the streetlight on all night.
Klasse!
If I wanted to stay at the Schueztzenberg I would have just directly booked with them and have obtained a better room.
Never again Kuckenberg. I had a guarenteed reservation and you chose someone else over me. Tschuess and auf Wiedersehen.

le petit déjeuner est vraiment minime.
pas de machine à café avec broyeur , café seulement disponible en bouteille thermo.
