More Than a Stay, A True Welcome
I had a truly wonderful 4-night stay at Imlil Oasis from February 17–21 in the beautiful mountain village of Imlil, Morocco. As a female traveling solo, feeling safe and genuinely welcomed matters deeply to me, and from the very beginning, I felt completely at ease here.
From my first WhatsApp exchange with Lahcen, I sensed the warmth that would define my stay. I was greeted with beautiful traditional mint tea on the terrace overlooking the mountains, which immediately set the tone. Throughout my time there, every member of the team went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and cared for.
Abdul checked in on me regularly and guided me on a beautiful hike to the waterfalls, which can be arranged through the lodge for an additional fee. He also kindly helped carry my luggage up and down the path to the lodge. Fatima’s warmth made every interaction feel personal, and Chef Omar prepared some of the most delicious and plentiful traditional Moroccan meals I had during my time in the country.
Each morning, I enjoyed a traditional Moroccan breakfast in the cozy dining room, and in the evenings I returned for wonderful dinners that were both flavorful and generous. The dining space itself was warmly lit and inviting, making meals feel relaxed and comfortable.
I was fortunate to be there during Ramadan and was kindly invited to join the family for Iftar. Sharing those meals with Lahcen and his wife was a special experience and a highlight of my stay. The food was exceptional, and the generosity unforgettable.
The lodge itself is peaceful and comfortable. My room had a queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom, warm blankets, reading lights, bedside tables, filtered water, and both AC and heat, which was much appreciated in February. The terrace was perfect for afternoon reading, with quiet mountain air and a calm atmosphere that made it easy to slow down.
What truly stood out to me was the genuine care I experienced. The family who runs the lodge is deeply connected to their community and culture, and that sincerity shows in every interaction. Their hospitality reflects who they are: Amazigh in identity, in pride, and in practice.
I left feeling grateful, rested, and already looking forward to returning. I highly recommend Imlil Oasis to anyone who values authentic experiences, heartfelt service, and meaningful connection while traveling.
Helpful Tips for Future Guests:
• The lodge is about a 10–15 minute walk uphill from the taxi drop-off point. Pack accordingly, though the team is happy to assist with luggage. If you are driving your own car, you can reach the door directly.
• Shoes are removed at the entrance to preserve the beautiful floors and carpets, and the lodge thoughtfully provides comfortable slip-ons to wear inside.
• The lodge operates on a cash-only basis for rooms, meals, and any arranged cultural or outdoor experiences, so plan ahead.
• If you hear someone cheerfully say, “See you later, alligator,” the proper response is “After a while, crocodile.”

10/10 Authentic Cooking class
We went 7 people for an Authentic Moroccan cooking class with the Family. This was an amazing experience. We prepared traditional food, Tagine, CousCous, bread and tea. Best food we've had on the trip and - very much recommended!

Authentic and peaceful
Where to start...we absolutely loved our stay in the Lodge. First of all the valley of Imlil is such an amazing and peaceful place that only who stayed there can understand. The Lodge is in the middle of a typical village, with a wonderful view on the mountains and a big terrace where guests can relax to enjoy the view. Everything is clean and cozy, furnitures are traditional in order to feel Imlil culture. The food is amazing and almost everything is homemade for that we thank Bahijja and Abdul (thank you so much for making our stay a pleasure and for making us feel at home). Lahcen gave us great advices for exploring the mountains around and organized the guide for our trekking on the Toubkal. We could not ask for more, really.

Solo adventure from Imlil to Toubkal!
I'm still speechless! Lahcen and his family are so friendly, I felt at home, like family. Wonderful meals, a fabulous view of the surroundings, unparalleled peace. I took my trip alone in adventure mode and always felt very safe, very welcome. The conditions are great, especially the terrace. I always had great teas and delicious meals there. Furthermore, I climbed Jbel Toubkal through the Lahcen organization with the guide Idriss, which made my stay a unique experience. Idriss is an outstanding professional and will show you the true Amazigh experience along the climb to Toubkal. Idrias supported me every step of the way up and made this adventure fun and profound. It was difficult to say goodbye to this stay. I was promised that I will return with my boyfriend and friends. I highly recommend it!

Extraordinary !
Extraordinary experience! Authentic is the perfect word to describe our adventure. The driver came to pick us up in the medina. Contrary to what we might have expected (traffic in Marrakesh very particular ) he drove very well. Very calm and careful. When we arrived, the guide was waiting for us. Great welcome. Throughout the hike our guide took care of us (I am not used to hiking). Breathtaking ride (in every sense of the word). Magnificent landscape, fresh and pure air, old Berber villages clinging to the mountain. It was incredible! On arrival, a thousand and one nights terrace with a view of the valley and an opulent meal. Starter, tagine, couscous. These people are of boundless kindness and hospitality. We feel that they care about the reputation of their culture and what resilience they have after the terrible earthquake they experienced. I loved everything I saw and did there. A huge Shoukran to them .
Please note: good shoes are essential! I weigh more than 100 kilos and I am not at all sporty. I found the climb very hard but it was so worth it. Keep this in mind though.
