Best surprise ever in Popayán

I needed a night with my mom an auntie and a cousin. With a very short notice, I had to select a house receiving tourists. Not my preference, but it was an emergency with a low budget. But I have to say that we received an spectacular service by the owner and the staff were absolutely warm and special. For this price, we got royal treatment. No fancy stuff, but the house triggered my nostalgia of visiting my grandmother in an old town. You will no regret to have a place to trust like your own family when visiting Popayán or surroundings. If colombian, you will recognize the furniture, the architecture, the local color. If foreign, you will feel safe and welcomed, lots of good recommendations and the great feeling of putting your trip and plans in good hands. Thank you Olga, you and the staff are great hosts

Dona Olga Excellent

We stayed at Casa Mima for six nights. The Casa is a beautiful old home with antique furniture and lovely spaces to read and rest. The bedrooms are spacious and clean with lovely photos and interesting antique furniture. Gorgeous open spaces with potted plants. Dona Olga is a fountain of information about the surrounding cities and sites. Olga speaks English and helped us arranged trips and helped us book rooms in other towns. We can’t say enough about this kind, intelligent, and helpful woman. If we return to this area Casa de Mima will be our base.

Friendly service in beautiful colonial house

We reserved Casa Semilla because all the places on the beach were full and because it got very good reviews on TripAdvisor, but we felt it fell short of expectations. We stayed in their only room which has a private bathroom. It was clean but a bit spartan: just a bed with a (good) mosquito net and some shelves. The windows had no curtains, so anyone walking by could look in. The vibe in the place was a bit weird. The staff / owner was completely indifferent to our presence, and other guests were smoking pot at breakfast. The place is about 10 minutes from the beach. After one night we moved to one of the very nice places on the beach where you can get an entire private cabana for not all that much more - I would recommend you do the same. Other reviews mention the (vegetarian) food it good, but we cannot comment on that because we did not eat there. It is certainly much nicer / more romantic to dine at one of the many restaurants on the beach.

Basic, old facilities

The owner is friendly and very nice person. But all the experience was below expectations based on reviews here. We were given room were mosquitos can come in and they were in the room. The room smelled of old furniture and was humid. The beds are short; mine was dry and with shiny white bed linen but the other was with nasty bloody spot. Breakfast was ok with fruits, eggs, arepa and coffee. There was wifi, more or less ok. There seemed to be some bigger and better rooms. Location is ok in historic area. Basic option, won't repeat.

Beautiful, quiet retreat in center of town

This place is a find! Behind unmarked doors is a little oasis of sunny courtyards and traditional architecture. We were welcomed with fresh juice and homemade arepas. Olga and her husband are charming, welcoming and full of information. They were kind enough to let me leave my large backpack in storage while we took a side trip to Tierradentro. La Casa de Mima was my favorite place to stay during my travels in Colombia.
