Hôte le Sahel

J’adore cet hôtel , un bon service offert et un accueil chaleureux. Ils dispose une grande piscine pour adultes et enfants, j’y passe souvent mes temps . J’adore aussi leurs terrasses décorées d’un beau jardin ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The default Hotel for most of the Business Visitors

This hotel remains default choice for most of the Business visitors since i know (4 Years now) i have stayed here more than 20 times and they keep adding rooms due to high demand and the price starts from 12000 to 50000 franc CFA. The advantages are more to remain No 1 at this area to mention few
1) Security
2) Accessible to City centre
3) Public Transport reach
4) In house Resturant
5) Pool
6) Bar
Would suggest to book in advance, as most of the times, government delegue or Big companies reserve lot of rooms during their visit to Maroua.
Rooms are just average.

Only when no alternative available

This place calls itself a hotel and has all the features however the experience is far from great. Unfortunately it is one of the few options in Maroua. The good thing is the 24hr police presence, other than that: broken or noisy ac, bugs in the room, street noise, no backup power, limited wifi, limited food, rude reception staff and absent kitchen staff. Luckily they have cold beer..33

Dreadful service

On entering, the hotel doesn't look too bad, it appeared fancier than the place I stayed in Yaoundé. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the rooms aren't great, but I've stayed in much worse. And I did have hot water, although colleagues in other rooms didn't. However, most of the staff were inhospitable and unpleasant, with the exception of the guy who had to return to the hotel in the evening after his work day to replace the lock on my bedroom door (which took about 3 hours...). After our stay, the hotel wrote to our local office (who had booked the rooms for us) asking for payment, even though all of us had paid our own bills at the end of the trip!

It's awful but then there is not much in this area

Let's face it - Maroua is not no longer a tourist destination because of the security threat along the border. So we visited as journalists and our expectations were low. There are better hotels than the Sahel with better rooms and food but we stayed here because security is tight and that was our main concern. The rooms are diabolical with threadbare bedding. There was no hot water and the food wasn't great. But it was a room - with a roof and water just not hot water. Better than nothing if your expectations are low and want reasonable security.
