A seafood find near Cape Kamui

We happened to come across this seafood restaurant on our way back from Cape Kamui. As it was lunchtime, we spontaneously decided to stop — a decision we were very glad we made.
The seafood was as fresh as it gets. And the sea urchin was simply outstanding — without a doubt the best I’ve ever tasted.
The service was equally enjoyable. Everyone was very friendly, and we felt genuinely welcome. We even had a lovely chat with the owners.
A completely unplanned lunch that turned into one of the highlights of the day.

Avoid at all cost

This place is newly renovated and attracts a lot of guests. There is no toilet or washing basin in the room. Doors are traditional thin Japanese sliding doors,except those of the toilets and bathroom. You will hear and feel every door bang and suitcase The entire room shakes every time someone bangs a door. Yhe Japanese parents allow their children to run in the outside your room as if it is so private playground. My husband woke up at 4:30 cm and I 5 a.m. because of the noise.
The Tatami was gross, not sure if someone has peed on it. I noticed 3 plastic cups scattered around the refrigerator. The staff did not notice and just placed some on the refrigerator.
Fruit or dessert was not served during dinner, which is rare in Japan. And there is no shop nearby. If you can't live without dessert, buy before you check in.

Amazing, local seafood!

Shin Sei is a fantastic local seafood restaurant. The owner's father is a fisherman and supplies all the seafood daily. We came in the summer and they had the extremely rare red uni for a fair price.
Stop by if you want, fresh, authentic and delicious seafood.

Wonderfully friendly local experience

My wife and I spent one evening here. The food was all delicious, incredibly fresh seafood. The rooms were nice and clean, with shared washing facilities. It's a very rustic Japanese experience, you would need a Japanese speaker.
We had traveled up by bus from Otaru, stopping in Yoichi on the way for some shopping. In the morning, the young lady owner very kindly helped us pack up our shopping and arranged for courier collection so that we didn't have to carry it all with us. As we were dependent on public transport, her husband also kindly drove us up to Cape Kamui and showed us where we could take a short scenic hike out to the point of the cape and then meet the bus to go back to Otaru. They went out of their way to help us and made the experience so enjoyable.

Great place for a seafood meal

Went to Cape Kanui and just outside is this restaurant Shinsei. Had dinner there and have to say the price is not so expensive while the food is so fresh. If travelling to the Cape I highly recommend this place for a stopover meal.
