Enjoy the Ginsen and the food

I stayed overnight on holiday with breakfast and dinner for sightseeing in Arima Onsen. Describe your experiences and impressions from each perspective.
・About customer service
The staff opened the doors to greet and see us off as we entered and exited the facility, which I felt was a pleasant response. The front desk staff explanation at check-in was also good.
・About hot springs
Although the facility has only an inner bath and no open-air bath, it is a very large public bath and features a variety of baths and saunas. There are not many people, so you can take a leisurely bath. Especially with regard to the "sleeping bath", I was able to relax and soak my whole body at a lukewarm temperature, which was very pleasant. And when I got out of the bath, I was happy to find a drink bar and massage chairs. Ginsen is the only hot spring, but you can get a ticket at the front desk to use the golden hot spring for free, so be sure to check it out.
・About the room
I was in a Western-style room on the fifth floor, about 24 square meters of Suikaede twin. I had no problem with the size and cleanliness of the room. Personally, the unfortunate thing is that the bed is single size? So it's a bit small, the blankets don't feel good, and the air conditioning is temperature controlled. As for air conditioning, it was difficult to control the temperature because it was not remote-controlled and could not be operated in the dark.
・About dinner
At the venue, I was on a Japanese music course (Japanese black beef teppanyaki). The staff were very responsive and I felt like they had a good selection of drinks. I was especially happy to be able to drink non-alcoholic cocktails as I should have refrained from drinking. You can also order additional dishes such as croquettes and fried chicken. The taste of each dish was delicious, but the overall volume of the course meal was rather small and felt regrettable.
・About breakfast
Dinner and the venue are the same. We enjoyed breakfast with hot spring eggs, grilled fish, tofu and salad. In particular, as a side dish to rice, the Yuzu scented komiso felt optimally delicious. I thought the overall breakfast volume was fine.
・Other
If you are walking from the station or bus stop, pick-ups are available due to the distance. The shop in the building is open until 10 p.m., and you can buy souvenirs and drinks. Convenience stores are not nearby, so we recommend you to buy in advance if you need anything else.
・Review
Despite all the small regrets, I am glad that I was able to enjoy hot springs and food at a reasonable price. Thank you very much for all the help you have given us in this short time.

I was healed

I used the day-trip hot spring plan that included lunch (Hana Kagozen) and a drink. The amount of food was just right for a woman over 60, not too much or too little, and each dish was very delicious. For the drink, I had a vinegar drink with fruit in it, which contained frozen dragon fruit and was drunk while melting it, which was unusual for me and very delicious. The portion was also generous. The hot spring did not have an open-air bath, the sauna could only fit three people, and there was no cold bath, so it was not what is popular these days, but there were all kinds of amenities and a lounge where you could drink free juice and tea, which was very nice. All the staff were kind and friendly, and more than anything, it was relaxing.

Love the place

I spent one night in this cozy hotel in Japanese style room. I had a good time in this simply comfort style room. We booked the room during golden week therefore we had paid very high prices but since we enjoy everything here, its worth to pay.
Not many tourists in the hotel so we got the real Japanese experiences. Onsen was very good, well maintenance and 5 styles available for relax.
Not many engish speaking staffs but the 2 I met were very helpful.
Japanese set dinner was amazing, and services are very high appreciated. The guy at restaurant is very polite& helpful. Your services made us feel like home.
The location is good as it is not in the cluster zone, we can enjoy our cozy private balcony.
We took 15 mins walk from rope way, not far because we can enjoy the environment (there were shuttle bus services) And we can just cross the street to enjoy the Arima small town.
It was the best relaxing time of mine. Thank you The Maple.

A hidden gem at Arima Onsen

I stayed at The Maple at Arima Onsen in June for one night. I paid 22,790 yen for a single room with upgraded dinner. For anyone who plans to stay in a Japanese ryokan, please keep in mind that the price range of your dinner makes a big difference in your room and board fee. My fancy upgraded dinner (not including breakfast) cost 12,300 yen on the menu, which is more than half of the total cost of my stay. So if you want to try the ryokan experience but don’t want to spend too much money, stick with the regular dinner plan or even skip their dinner option but dine somewhere else.
Arima Onsen is a popular destination because it is close to Kobe, Osaka and Kyoto. Since I started my vacation in Osaka, I went to Arima Onsen by train and came back to Osaka by bus, both types of transportation took about an hour. Comparing the two, bus would be slightly more convenient but there is no need to change trains.
The Arima Onsen area is not very big and you can pretty much walk everywhere. Still, when I arrived by train I took a taxi to go to The Maple. That’s actually a good move because The Maple is located at the far end of an uphill slope where dozens of ryokans are clustered. For about 10 bucks I saved myself the trouble of lugging my luggage around looking for the hotel in an unfamiliar neighborhood.
The Maple was opened in 2005 and is very well maintained. My Western style single room has a balcony with a nice green view. The only imperfection is they don’t have wi-fi in the room, only at the hotel lobby. But other than that, the room is very comfortable.
The onsen experience is equally fantastic. Although it doesn’t have an outdoor pool, there are different types of hot springs that are quite fun: a pressure pool, a waterfall, a pressure-bubble bath, a lie-down bath and even a walk bath (you walk along a pebble-path in water and the pointy pebbles will stimulate your feet’s pressure points). Like any onsen, the men’s bath and the women’s bath will be swopped on regular basis. I tried both baths and found they are almost identical, except the women’s bath tends to have more skin care items in the changing room.
My fancy dinner didn’t disappoint either. On top of the many too-pretty-to-eat appetizers and delicious main courses, it included lobster sashimi and steak teppanyaki.
I also toured the neighborhood a bit and found the Arima Onsen a charming little town. There isn’t any famous sight that stands out, but there are many little shops selling local souvenirs and snacks. It would make a very pleasant and comfortable overnight trip.
