The most relaxing hotel and beautiful view in Ireland , a real gem

This hotel has the most beautiful view in Ireland, a fab welcome, lovely staff, lovely bedrooms and the food was fantastic

Hell

It’s taken me 18 years to build up the courage to write this and Ive had a lot of therapy sessions to get over this experience. From the filthy net curtains the freezing green elegy out door pool to the bunker pointed block work prison cells they call rooms. Not to mention the damp bluemolded playroom for kids.if you stay here it will be a life changing experience but not in anyway a positive one.Don’t put yourself through this hell hole

Great food!

Hotel is gorgeous! Has amazing views and tasty food since new owners took it over. They put a lot of money into doing it up. The food and views alone is worth a trip!! Great friendly staff.

Holiday homes are showing for let by a few agencies,but be aware when paying high rents that the main hotel building is used for government temporary accommodation.

Great location but avoid this hotel

Just returned from one week in this hotel in Derrynane. The location is beautiful with plenty of gorgeous beaches close by but the hotel itself is quite disappointing. Rooms are clean but often get cold and damp in the evenings. The WiFi was terrible in the bedrooms which isn’t acceptable in this day and age. Housekeeping didn’t visit our rooms during our stay due to COVID-19 but for what we paid for a 7 night stay this is ridiculous and a cop-out. This meant the rooms got smelly and dirty after a few days and we would have had more comfort at home. We had to ask to put the heating on at one point to take the damp uncomfortable feeling from the bedrooms. The service in the restaurant was just ok and there seemed to be regular billing issues. I lost count of the number of times tables around us were issued the wrong bill. We were grossly undercharged one night and issued with a different tables bill another night. Talk about faulty towers!!
Another issue is the food - the breakfast is very basic compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in and the dinner menu really lacks imagination. If chips, burgers, deep fried everything are your thing then you’re sorted. Nothing remotely light or healthy to give your system a break from the stodgy food!! Fish tanks in reception are dirty and an eyesore in my opinion and there was nowhere comfortable to sit and read when not eating etc..only ugly crab chairs and other uncomfortable wooden furniture.
As a family we love this part of Kerry but we will be staying elsewhere next time. It’s very expensive for the overall standard of food, service and accommodation it offers its customers. We still managed to have a good holiday despite the shortcomings of this hotel.
