The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great area. It is very convenient. The hotel is two renovated old Dutch houses. Just remember no A/C and no elevator. Staircases are narrow and steep. Really feel like you are in an old Dutch home.

Very steep stairs. Very warm in the room, but very great location, very nice and helpful receptionist and good breakfast.

Living room? For an additional fee only
I had booked this overnight stay as a birthday present for my boyfriend, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment.
Upon arrival we were given a room on the top floor, directly under the roof. On the day of our stay it was about 35°C and the room was unbearably warm. The hotel does not have air conditioning and the temperature in the room was so high that it was impossible to stay or sleep comfortably.
We immediately asked if we could get another room or get our money back so we could stay somewhere else. To our surprise, neither was possible without additional costs. Eventually we were forced to take a paid upgrade to get a liveable room. I find that anything but customer-friendly. You wouldn't have to pay extra to get a room that's habitable at all under these circumstances.
After our stay I contacted the hotel first, as I prefer to give the manager the chance to resolve a complaint before posting a negative review. Although we were sympathetic to our experience, no compensation was offered for the additional costs we incurred. That was a big disappointment for us.
Afterwards I read several reviews and saw that our experience is not isolated. Many guests cite the lack of air conditioning and the extreme heat in the rooms during hot days. There are also frequent complaints about the steep stairs, the lack of a lift, noisy rooms and the dated decor. Unfortunately, I recognize the image that emerges from many reviews.
The only real plus of this hotel is the good location, close to Museumplein. But a good location does not make up for an uncomfortable overnight stay and a less customer-oriented handling of a complaint.
For us this was a very disappointing experience and we will not stay here again.

We we’re located on the 4 th floor in an attic style room with portal window and a fan saying it was 38c temperature ( it was 95f outside ), after finding pictures of room i booked, went down to reception which 4 floors of steep stairs ( our and luggage were left at the reception because of the steep stairs) and explained the room was nothing like the picture and was told not all room are alike. After a little while another room was offered a room still on the 4 th floor which even the receptionist got out breath going up the stairs when showing us the other room, the room was more of a standard room and a bit cooler which we accepted.
Terrible is a bit harsh but I have difficulty giving it 2 stars mainly the building is old and not much could be done to improve it unless they can find a way of putting an elevator in for a start and replacing some carpeting

Room was not like advertized, It was much smaller i couldnt even move around the room there was no place to even put my bag this is how small it was. I booked a single room for 1 person, I went to the reception and asked to change my room because this is not what i paid for. Thankfully, they agreed, and I got a bigger room not a big difference in size, but at least there is a place to move and put my luggage. sheets were very dirty; there was a stains on my bed and housekeeping came everyday and ignored it and there is dust around everywhere
