Nice hotel staff not great :(
The rooms were completely clean and really modern (especially the bathroom) with some lovely views, just seemed a tad unfinished in places, the overall grounds of the hotel were beautiful and the hotel isn’t too far from the centre and we as a group shared uber's so was never really that expensive and you could do the walk as was only about 30 mins.
However when you arrive there is a charge of deposit per room ours totalled 200 euro for our room and length of stay, this was not disclosed to us before arrival and left one of our friends with little spending money as we was unaware when we tried to understand what this was for the lady at reception was extremely dismissive and quite frankly rude. when we was checking out a couple in front of us had also moved something in the mini bar but they hadn’t actually taken it but were still being charged due to the sensors (so do be cautious not to even touch if you don’t want money deducted from deposit) and again the receptionist wasn’t exactly nice or helpful to them either.
There is a restaurant on site which we didn’t use as menu didn’t really appeal to us as i can be a picky eater but it did seem like a nice place to eat.

Nice stay overall, but some improvements needed
We had to change rooms straight after checking in as there was a nail poking through the floorboards. Second room was much more spacious however there was an awful sewage smell from bathroom if shower/toilet was used. Our room was only cleaned once, you are advised to put the ‘clean my room’ sign out if you’d like your room to be cleaned however it was only cleaned once despite putting this out each day.
We stayed in 225 and within this section there were a number of rooms being renovated, so there was lots of noise with construction being carried out. Not ideal being woken up by construction, however didn’t bother us too much during the day as we were out and about.
Distance to centre of Amsterdam is a fair walk. Having been before and stayed in a different area, I’d suggest if you are planning on walking into the centre most days, stay somewhere a little closer than Hotel Arena.

Great out of town hotel
It's a little way from the cente but an enjoyable 40 mum walk with the zoo en route.
Didn't like the frosted bathroom door where the toilet was very visible from the bedroom

The breakfast was good, only thing is the staff is very panicky about people going in without saying their roomnumber, which is fine, but there is never any staff to greet you at the "wait here sign", so the only way to get the staff to come and take your roomnumber is to walk into the buffet, and then have a panicked staff member run up to you, maybe there needs to be more staff at breakfast. Also be aware that they stop filling up the buffet about forty minutes before it closes.
Overall I really liked the hotel, the park at the hotel is also lovely.
