Exceptional hotel
Everything is simply fantastic, from the welcome to the rooms, including the breakfast.
The kindness, politeness, and availability of ALL the staff should be especially noted.
Having traveled a lot in my life, I find the price-quality ratio exceptional.

Closer to a 4 star than a 5 star
- it is well located, in the center of Val d'Isère and 5 minutes walk from the slopes
-It has a nice jacuzzi
- it has a nice bar (where you will not find any seating after 6.30pm so successful it is)
Personally, I like less, and I have the same criticisms as in several previous reviews:
- the rooms are too small for a 5 star: the office is very small, the dressing room is very small too, and the bathroom is quite small too. And there is little water pressure to shower, and the shower hose is a vulgar plastic
- the reception is small and the staff is quickly overwhelmed. This Saturday night (March 21st), the valet was bordering on rudeness
- the dining room is composed in particular of small tables of four, where you have to use a footsock to make two chairs fit on the same side between the two legs of the table, and in addition, there are often benches for two instead of chairs, which makes travel painful
– Certainly the Jacuzzi is beautiful, but there are no deckchairs next door, just 2 sofas and 2 armchairs. Obviously you are not sure if you can find a seat depending on the time you arrive
-the best rooms in my opinion: village side and on the 1st or 2nd floor. What's wrong? On the mountain side, you will have seen... in the trees. And on the 3rd and 4th floors you will want to use the elevator, which is THE black spot of this hotel: there is only one elevator available to guests from the entire hotel, and, making it even less convenient, this elevator is often used by the staff.
- system for closing the doors of the rooms and lockers very painful: a thing to press, then waits for a small noise (which I can not hear), and finally turn a knob for the lock to open. To make the mechanism even more painful, the door of your room does not close itself: you have to press the plastic thing again and wait for the small noise
In short, if it was up to me, I would change hotels. However, I think that true 5 stars in Val d’Isère must cost 50% more (and double that in the case of Airelles)

Drinking at the Blizzard Bar: a memorable break thanks to David
David knows your tastes, anticipates your expectations and always the right word to make you feel at home.
Every year we come back to him for a moment of extreme cocooning after a good day of skiing. Impeccable service.
Slight flat end 2025 - decorrelated to David's skill: The plate of the salted seed mixture was missing this year, unfortunately replaced by disappointing bites. Why change a formula that works????

Terrible from start to finish!
Ive been to hundreds of restaurants in my time but this was singly, hands down, the worst experience in a restaurant in my lifetime, it was that bad.
Firstly we were sat down on a cramped table with another couple so close as to almost be dining with us.
The lunch menu was limited and basic, and i expected better for a restaurant in a 5* hotel in Val D'Isere. Service was initially slow before plummeting to Fawlty Towers style farce. Our drinks orders were taken and we waited a long time for them to arrive, in the interim whilst other tables were served a bread basket we did not recieve one.
The manager came to take our order which we gave him of both starters and main cources.
After another long wait, still no bread, one of my son's starters turned up which was "white pizzetta with black truffle shavings" (37 Euros), it was the smallest pieces of pizza dough with a few (4 max) shavings of truffle that didnt taste of anything.
After an in ordinate amount of time my wife's and my starters arrived (still no bread) which was "Crumbled Crab, Avocado and green Apple" (36 Euros), this was bland and tasteless, almost dry and inedible.
At this point, whilst still awaiting the final starter (still no bread), the waiters arrived with our main courses. We couldnt quite believe it and said that they had made some sort of mistake and perphaps they were for another table. They rushed off with them.
At this point the final starter turned up (still no bread) and was the most disgusting thing i had tasted in a supposedly decent restaurant, it was a "Vegatables Minestrone Soup" .....tasteless, weak, green (think fairy liquid green) water with a few whole beans and a couple of bits of mange tout in it (im not exagerating) (23 Euros).
As they put his bowl of green liquid down, all 4 mains turned up again (still no bread).
At this point, I requested to speak to the manager as my planned Christmas Day 2025 dinner was now in the depths of farce. I told him that he was to take the mains away and not to put them under a heat lamp but to recook them post us finishing the very poor quality starters. He agreed.
After attempting to eat the starters (still no bread) we asked for them to be taken away and when asked "was everything ok?" we responded negatively.
1 minute after the plates were whisked away, our mains turned up, clearly the original plates, the food was barely warm and again the son, who had the green water had asked for "Smoked and Spicy Beef Tartare" with "fries" (34 Euros), recieved what i can only describe as being the second worst tasting thing (after the green water), it wasnt seasoned, had a wierd texture, was neither spicy or smokey and definately wasnt beef tartare or anything resonabling it (apart from being raw beef)...rancid.
We had "Duck Slices with Ginger Veg" (39 Euros) and it was barely warm, I ate it because I was hungry (still no bread) but it was a huge let down also and we asked for the plates to be taken away.
Then the bread turned up.
At this point we just wanted to get out, the manager offered us complimentary desserts but honestly we were so let down and angry that we just wanted to leave and go and buy a burger somewhere. We asked for the bill.
15 minutes later (im not kidding) the bill turned up and the manager explained "all i can do i remove the cost of the main courses" - in hindsight we shouldnt have had to pay for anything other than the drinks, but we just wanted to get out of there and end what was an awful Christmas Day experience.
As you can tell, I wouldnt recommend this place at all. Really, really poor.
