The restaurant is Superb, just superb.

The restaurant side of the hotel is a must visit if you are ever in Saintes or the surrounding area. Beautiful looking, great tasting food, excellent service, nice selection of wines and beer. Nothing else to say. Just go if you get the chance. We did not stay in the attached hotel so I can not comment on that, sorry.

Not recommended for summer

The restaurant is worth a visit, but I cannot recommend the hotel in summer. The hotel is well-located, next door to the beautiful l'Abbaye des Dames, but there is no air-conditioning, no elevator, and to climb two flights of stairs, only to arrive at a dark, ill-lit room, in the middle of a heat-wave, is not a pleasant experience. In addition more than 90€ a night for a two-star hotel is over-priced.

Quite old, poorly maintained for some rooms (flushing, tap moving, blade of parquet broken and rebique, towels frayed...).
The service leaves something to be desired: no thoughtfulness.

Small rooms and need to invest in air conditioning

Room in attic, small dark and very hot.
Staff quite unfriendly apart from one waitress who was very kind and attentive. Parking never available and quite difficult to park. Very close to Abbey which is beautiful. wifi rubbish

Warm welcome, nice room, delicious dinner

We arrived about 9.30pm, hungry and hoping we could get dinner. Our delightful hostess asked her husband if we could eat and he obligingly and smilingly agreed. She then directed us to park in a free car park a short walk down the street. On our return we were shown to our room, which was spacious and modern with a very nice, if small, shower room. We then came down for dinner and were surprised to find it was a fixed menu, and not cheap (we had planned to have just a main course). But then we were absolutely not disappointed, it was worth every Euro. The service was fantastic (our young waiter was very helpful in finding out what things were for us) and the food and wine sublime. We would certainly stay at Les Saveurs de l'Abbaye again and would very much look forward to eating there. My only comment to the owners would be - please provide better lighting in the room. It was difficult to read in bed. Otherwise - PERFECT! Thank you.
