The location is very convenient if you want to visit the city's main attractions.
On the other hand, the surrounding area isn't the Marais or other areas. There's some difficulty with the elevator. The breakfast is acceptable. Overall, excellent for Paris.

Your belongings are not safe in the room .

We stayed at this hotel from April 9th to April 12th, 2026. The day before our departure, a pair of shoes we had just bought were stolen from our room. We reported it to the authorities. They reviewed the security footage and said there was no theft. We asked if the shoes were stolen even though we didn't. What kind of irresponsibility is this? We trusted the hotel, and we made a mistake. The hotel has security vulnerabilities; I will never go there again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Theft in a hotel room

We booked 3 rooms for 6 people for 3 nights, and on the last night, my newly purchased shoe box was stolen from my room. When I returned, the room key wasn't working. The hotel was very irresponsible. There was no interest, no follow-up. Never choose this hotel. There's no one to talk to. It was practically a theft, and there was no explanation.

Serious disruption managed nonchalantly

Small hotel in great location with a quality and price rating to reconsider for our experience. We were allocated a room on the third floor and only then were we informed, as a mere detail, that the lift was out of service, without worrying about providing an alternative porter service for luggage. We took them three stories up a narrow spiral staircase, which we retraced several times over the weekend until departure, again with luggage, of course. They must have considered us athletic and healthy! The room was nice, the bed comfortable, the cleaning improved and the toilet in an excessively cramped space. Unforgivable the total indifference shown for the serious disservice that does not lead 'to recommend this hotel or return.

A Convenient Location with Significant Shortcomings

Checking into Hotel Choiseul Opera was anything but smooth. Despite the advertised 3:00 PM check-in time, the front desk staff provided vague and unhelpful responses when asked about early check-in availability. Arriving from a long-haul flight, the lack of certainty was frustrating. The receptionist casually stated the hotel was fully booked and, surprisingly, could not confirm whether a room would be available even at the official check-in time. This lack of professionalism and preparedness set the tone for what followed.
To their credit, the hotel did allow us to store our luggage upon arrival, which was a small relief. However, given the long wait until check-in, we opted to find a nearby café for breakfast and later secured a day hotel for much-needed rest.
Returning at 3:15 PM, we found only one receptionist handling check-ins, causing an additional 15-minute delay. Once checked in, we were assigned a triple room on the fourth floor, accessible via an elevator so small it could accommodate just two people or one person with large luggage—a logistical challenge for families or travelers with baggage.
The room itself was underwhelming. While functional, the slanted ceiling posed a real hazard. Both my child and I repeatedly hit our heads, an unacceptable design flaw that should have been disclosed at booking. Furthermore, temperature control was an issue. The air conditioning system was ineffective, and the remote did not work properly. When I contacted the front desk, I was advised—quite absurdly—to wait 20 minutes because the remote “might be hot.” This dismissive response highlighted a lack of attentiveness to guest comfort. In the end, we had to keep the window partially open to regulate the room temperature, which raises serious concerns about staying here in warmer months.
Despite these shortcomings, the hotel’s location is its strongest asset. Situated within walking distance of the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Sacré-Cœur, Eiffel Tower, and Latin Quarter, as well as major shopping and dining areas, it offers convenience for tourists looking to explore the city on foot. However, location alone does not compensate for subpar service, uncomfortable accommodations, and a lack of basic amenities.
Final Verdict:
While the hotel’s proximity to key attractions is a plus, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. If you choose to stay here, request a lower-floor room to avoid the elevator hassle and avoid rooms with slanted ceilings. Additionally, be mindful of potential temperature control issues, particularly in summer. The luggage storage service is helpful, but given the range of options available in Paris, travelers may find better value and service elsewhere.
