Room 29 to avoid
Not a warm atmosphere upon our arrival (much better afterwards) and parking available only in the city parking lot.
Our room did not really match those shown on the websites. So avoid room 29, which has no openings to the outside unlike the others.
Additionally, a small room with neither air conditioning (other than a fan) nor ventilation in the bathroom.
We had made the reservation more than a month in advance. Is it the fact of going through another site that disadvantaged us…
Otherwise, a good quality restaurant.
So in summary, avoid the rooms in the annex building, especially room number 29.

Hotel "3 stars"... really?
An extremely haughty and unpleasant welcome from the gentleman present. Even saying "hello" seemed to be painful, and that was the only polite phrase we were granted: no smile, no welcome, in short, we were a bother to him. The same thing when leaving: I smiled at him to wish him a good evening, and I was met with nothing but a disdainful look and then his back turned, without a word. That's it for the reception! I have never seen this in a hotel.
Needless to say, this kind of behavior does not open any doors to the slightest remark or constructive exchange for the future, so my comments will be here...
The "superior double" room... the photo on the website suggested rooms with woodwork, exposed stone, and space. We had a small room, with outdated decor stuck in the 90s, splatters of unknown origin on the walls, holes everywhere, stains including on the sheet, and door and furniture veneers ripped off in several places. And in the bathroom, rolls of paper placed directly on the trash can because they did not fit the dispenser fixed to the wall. There you go.
This is not what we expected from a 3-star hotel. If this is a superior room, what on earth is the "standard"? We thought we would stay in a charming hotel, but the room had no character whatsoever. Beware of the photos.
A few positive points, however: despite its central location, the hotel is quiet at night, and we were able to sleep. The restaurant/breakfast room, on the other hand, has a lot of charm and is very pleasant, just like the lady present on site. A substantial and excellent breakfast, with plenty of choices.
But between the unbelievable welcome and the room being very far from the photos (I have seen many 2-star hotels that are much better maintained), we will not be returning.

A Charming Comfortable Hotel
The hotel was comfortable, we had a very good room. Parking is a bit tight in the garage if you have anything bigger than a mini!
The restaurant has an extensive menu, with a good selection of wines. The food was good, particularly the optional cheese board.
There is not much to criticise though to see a young male member of staff standing in the foyer watching us having to carry heavy bags upstairs (there is no lift) without offering assistance is not impressive.
The Cheval Blanc is not cheap but it is nicely situated in the centre of an interesting town and you get what you pay for: comfort, good surroundings, nice restaurant and a very impressive breakfast. Yes we'd return here again if in this part of France.

Very disappointing!
We thought we were celebrating a special occasion in the restaurant Le Cheval Blanc. This establishment does not live up to what is expected for a gastronomy. The service does not honor the dishes and believe me, it has burdened everything else! A waiter in sneakers who does not say a word, who serves you as in the canteen by slamming plates!. No viable advice for choosing wines, which spoils the meal. In their defense, they did not hesitate to open several bottles to satisfy us (hence my 2 stars for the gesture). The dishes are not exceptional and the quantity served is to be reviewed. We had a very good experience at this property a few months ago. However, this last experience that cut our appetite does not encourage us to make a future reservation.
