End of an Era
This was our sixth and final visit to Crystal 2000 - final because our children are now too old to appreciate the Esprit experience. I have reviewed the hotel before but wanted to give it one last review to put on record that it is generally still an excellent hotel. Certainly for what one pays (even in half term week) the hotel can't be faulted and provided an excellent holiday for all the family.
Apart from anything else, there is probably not a better location in the world. It is hard to beat The Three Valleys anyway but the hotel's location on a gentle green slope with easy access to other lifts is perfect for family skiing.
Yes the building is old and tired - but it is clean, warm, comfortable and has plenty of hot water for a post ski bath or shower.
The childcare, which sets Esprit apart, is of course great. Even our nearly 14 year old found herself joining in with many of the evening activities.
If I had to critisise the hotel it would be consistency of service in the bar and restaurant. Whilst the food is generally good, there were a couple of notable exceptions. Certain food items ran out at breakfast very quickly and took time to replace. The service on occasion was a bit hit and miss and on a couple of days the bar staff really didn't seem to know what they were doing. However overall this did not detract from the holiday.
We are all sad that we won't be going back but unfortunately it is time to move on.

CRUMMY.
We had 2 bedrooms. We stayed there 3 nights , the beds were never made! Only the garbage cans were emptied.
Qd we arrived , we found hairs from the bathtub and a room without TV. We waited until the next morning to get the TV.
Despite a bathtub in the bathroom, no possibility to take a bath, all the plugs have been removed, only showers are allowed! Water must be too expensive.
Breakfast served from 7.30 to 10am, we go down for 9am, no more bread! And no way to have it! The minimalist choice. The room is not heated , so we took the initiative of small already in the living room!
Frankly, I'm not demanding but I admit that I find it shameful that this hotel stays open with 3* , it deserves only one!!

Great location, nice staff, but so rundown
I’m giving this review two stars rather than one because the hotel is very well situated and the staff is very nice.
Besides these two points, I find it shocking that this place is considered a three star hotel. We booked it because it shut down during the pandemic and just reopened this year after being acquired by Dokhan, a group that mostly owns 5 star hotels (including one next door to the Crystal). We assumed that they had remodeled the hotel as part of the acquisition prior to reopening.
Very incorrect assumption. The hotel and its rooms have not been renovated since they opened, likely in the 60s. Our room was clean, but so run down and barebones that it felt like a one star hotel. The sink was cracked, the paint chipping off the ceiling, the room smelled like cigarettes (likely due to decades of smoking with no refresh). The elevator still had an ashtray in it!
All this for over $800 per night…
This could be a great place to stay in Courchevel for families that can’t afford a 5 star hotel for 2-3k nightly if the owners invested a little bit to modernize and freshen up. But until they do I would recommend staying away.

Excellent as always.
Great trip again. Fantastic staff throughout the hotel which is situated in arguably the best ski location in the World. Food was great throughout our week, as was the flight with Enter Airlines. There is honestly nothing we'd change with this hotel. An excellent place surrounded by hotels that cost £2000 a night. Booked again for next year. Well done Esprit, you're doing grand job. Thanks again.

Esprit Brand being let down by parent company
Being a regular Esprit guest we know what to expect great childcare, super helpful and friendly staff and ok food and accommodation. However this week it is clear that there has now been a significant change with the separation of childcare and hotel operations. The hotel staff are now clearly branded as a separate team. Although still friendly and helpful they were often overwhelmed and at times clumsily amateur meaning the service often fell short. It felt there were too few staff for the number of guests. Food was at times ok but poor at other times. Service often started late and arrived piecemeal. Miserly actions like removing free hot chocolate and forcing you to the bar to pay 3 euros is symptomatic of a company maximising profit at every opportunity. Our final experience was to find no breakfast laid out as promised for our early transfer and being rudely told by staff that this wasn’t a provided service.
Esprit’s great childcare still makes them unique but failing to provide a great service to the adults risks alienating the customers.
