Great Base
We spent three nights at The Ascot and it was delightful. The hotel is minutes walk from Tivoli Gardens, shopping, museums, lots of restaurants, and transport hubs that will take you all over Copenhagen.
The breakfast buffet is generous and caters for all tastes. The hotel lobby bar has a lovely, bubbly, metropolitan atmosphere, it’s well stocked, and managed by experienced, knowledgeable staff. The reception staff too are very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were not quite as modern and new as the hotel website depicts but they are clean and comfortable with plenty of storage.
I’d definitely recommend The Ascot for anyone wishing to stay in the centre of Copenhagen.

Our second stay here, the first two years ago and we would stay again. Good location with breakfast options close by. We had our breakfasts at the hotel which had plenty to offer, tea was excellent. Hot tip. Try out Dina Cafe a 2 min walk from the hotel, we had a fab diner there.

I got what I asked for. A king bed, walk in shower and close to the elevator. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
We did not eat breakfast there so can’t rate the food. Nice bar and lounge where we met our friends after we had lunch at the Christansborg Castle. You need reservations.
Use Uber not the taxi at the hotel. Uber is less expensive. Staff told us that. It’s true.
No bars in the shower and gloor is slippery so we used the hand towel. Didn’t get a shower although I saw them on the housekeepers cart.
She also forgot the bath mat the second night.
I would stay there again but will ask for a shower cap and mat.
There’s a live band venue across the street and it got loud but window does help if closed but it did get hot in the room so I had to open the window. Band eventually did stop performing.

Do Not Recommend
For my experience, I got 2 shirts that were ruined from their laundry service that took 2 days to be returned.
I sent in 4 shirts to be *dry cleaned*
I filled out the form with the proper indication & pricing for 4 dry cleaned shirts. Instead of dry cleaning them, their laundry washed 3 of the 4 shirts. 2 of those washed shirts are now ruined, with shrinkage for one and a hole for another. I expect regular laundry to ruin shirts at hotels and that is why I always pay extra for dry cleaning shirts on vacation.
I do not recommend staying here.

Charming but uncomfortable
The Ascot Hotel has a lot going for it. It has a charming, boutique feel, the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the lobby bar is a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Its location is one of its biggest strengths—Tivoli Gardens, City Hall Square, Strøget, restaurants, and public transportation are all within easy walking distance, making it an excellent base for exploring Copenhagen.
Unfortunately, the hotel also has some significant drawbacks. The rooms and bathrooms are quite small, but the biggest issue is the lack of air conditioning. During warmer weather, the rooms become uncomfortably warm, and the only option is to open the window—which only opens about three inches. Even with the window open all night, the room never cooled down adequately.
Leaving the window open also means dealing with constant street noise. Regardless of where your room is located, expect to hear trash bins being dragged across the cobblestone streets in the early morning hours, along with other city noise. The combination of no air conditioning and persistent street noise made it difficult to get a comfortable night’s sleep and was, by far, the biggest downside of the stay.
Overall, the Ascot Hotel is a charming property in a fantastic location with excellent staff, but if you are traveling during warm weather or are a light sleeper, the lack of air conditioning and the unavoidable street noise are important factors to consider.
