Excellent place to stay in Yangshou, highly recommend for family wishing to stay outside city area. Owner is kind and helpful, cooks delicious breakfast (noodle). Room is spacious, back yard is farm land. Several local restaurants outside hotel.

Great stuff, great food, brilliant location but damp rooms

We have spent a lovely week here, visiting most attractions Yangshuo has to offer.
Location is superb, great to explore some with the inn’s free bicycles.
We were looking forward to our meals every single day. Did not even think about trying somewhere else. Loved the local food. And anything was possible vegetarian friendly version!
Atmosphere is really good. Rural, hostel, “Bauernhof”-like.
All staff are very friendly, but must highlight Wendy. She is exceptionally good. Ready to answer any questions any time, help plan tours and make the best of your stay.
The only thing we did have an issue with, was that everything was constantly wet.
Bedclothes, towels, our clothes; so we kept all our clean clothes in our suitcases, to keep them dry. (there are no cupboards to unpack anyway). We are not sure if it is only now, as it has been raining a lot, or it is normal here. The smell is a bit disturbing after a while.
It is manageable, but we did not expect this after previous descriptions/web page/ and room pictures...
We came on our friends’ recommendation, but must admit, years passed by, and it feels the shower and room could do with “some” touching up.

Friendly staff

We visited the outside Inn as a family with teenage kids. As we were looking forward to a countryside holiday we weren’t disappointed by the whole area in-and outside the Inn.
PROs:
-very nice staff especially Wendy was so helpful and always warm and welcoming
-food is great on a good pricing also if compared with close-by restaurants
-bike rental is included
-other guests are mostly western tourists with a interesting background (like diplomats, expats from all over)
-bed and lining is nice and clean
-activities arranged by the outside Inn are interesting and on reasonable prices
-Outside Inn is in a authentic surrounding...with chicken and ducks running around, a friendly cat and a baby dog
CONs:
-unfortunately rooms are definitely in need of a good clean up
-some mayor renovation has to be done e.g. fix the bathroom door for closing, fix the lightbulbs in several lamps, fix the air condition that it would work at all (we informed staff ad arrival but nothing happened)
-rooms are damp and have a heavy smell of mold
-after a 3 day stay literally everything is damp and has a bad smell of mold
-as air condition isn’t working nothing ever dries...feels like living in a swamp
-unfortunately the nice view from the tea house is spoiled by a new 4 story building
All in all it’s a friendly place for very basic rooms...if you like to stay more comfortable there’s lots of alternatives around.
