Definitely not a quiet place !

If you're looking for a hotel to spend a good night in Sofia, this is absolutely the wrong place!
After a few problems on arrival (air conditioning and TV not working, the buffet next to the hotel that was supposed to provide us with breakfast didn't know about it, etc.) we had the most horrible night in a hotel.
This hotel obviously allows groups of people to meet up in rented rooms to drink a lot and talk loudly all night long.
The receptionist did nothing to stop the racket and we had to call the police who calmed them down for a few minutes.
Run away from this place, there are much better quiet hotels in the area!

A reasonable place to stay, marred by silly things!

Avenue Hotel is situated in the Studentski Grad Area of Sofia. It's situated on a busy road, that, thankfully, quietens down at night.
The hotel is an apartment hotel, with apartments only.
Our apartment was on the first floor. This floor has three apartments. The apartment faced the road and, despite double glazing, the sound of the traffic could still be heard, although, not as loud as it's would be without the glazing.
The apartment is spacious, decorated in green colours and interesting library book wall paper on the lounge wall.
The apartment had two air-conditioning units, one in the bedroom, one in the lounge area. They worked fine and cooled the apartment sufficiently.
The bedroom is fairly spacious and has a small dressing table with chair and mirror and a plug socket adjacent. The bed has a comfortable matress, although there is only one pillow per person supplied, which I did not find enough - I need two. There are bedside lamps and additional electric sockets, ideal for charging your phone. There is one single, light quilt per person. There is one loose under sheet and an ill-fitting matress saver. There is also a wardrobe with hangers.
The bathroom is small and somewhat disappointing... There is no shower cubicle, and the whole bathroom is a wet room. Fine for one person, but if someone's just had a shower and another person wants to use the toilet, it means a wet floor and wet toilet. However the shower has two heads, a rain shower and a conventional hand shower - both produced good pressure and a good shower. There was hot water at all times. The basin had a broken plug and to use the plug, meant manually placing it in or removing it from the plug hole, which wasn't ideal. There were two clean, but worn towels each. The toilet was a standard, two flush type, with slow closing seat and lid. It worked fine.
The kitchen area was equipped with a two plate ceramic hob, microwave, kettle, under counter fridge and washing machine. There was a small amount of crockery and cutlery, but no utensils. The fridge was stocked with mini bar items.
The lounge area has a suede sofa, that needed cleaning, as there were stains and grime over it. There was also a dining table and four chairs. There is a ceiling lamp fitting that hangs too low for tall people (I'm 183cm) so that when you get up from the sofa, you bang your head on it. Clearly many before me had done the same, as one bulb was missing out of the three and the whole fitting appeared to only be fixed/hanging by its electrical wire from the ceiling - not a good place for such a lamp and it would be better placed in the centre of the room.
There were two 32 inch TVs, one in the bedroom, one in the lounge area. Both TVs were equipped with a TV package. There is a reasonably good Internet connection, although my what's app calls were not overly clear.
The apartments are supposed to have sound proofing, but the neighbours could be easily heard, with a whineing child, that was persistent through the day and evening. The traffic noise was mostly bearable, save for loud motorcycles.
Security on the apartment entrance door is good and a card allows you to lock and unlock the door. You must place the card on the reader for the door to lock. There is a very secure lock built into the door.
There is no restaurant in this hotel, however there is an independent bar restaurant on the ground floor, that also serves a limited breakfast of seven choices from a menu. Sadly, I didn't find the breakfast sufficient - one croissant, filled with chocolate and a coffee. However, we had two coffees each, to which, they didn't charge for the second.
The area lacks and there is quite a distance to any good restaurants. Shopping in the area is poor, with just a couple of supermarkets. There are some restaurants and bars, but nothing to write home about, indeed, one I experienced was quite poor.
Transport - there are two buses that stop very close and the nearest metro is 1.3 miles / 2.08 km away, reachable by bus. Taxis can be booked via telephone or apps.
With the traffic noise, adjacent room noise, wet bathroom, dirty sofa and poorly placed light fitting, which all marred my visit, I would may be choose somewhere else next time around. Without those problems, the place would be fine, but these issues make for disappointment.
