Beautiful!
This mixture of relaxed, almost magical atmosphere and a location that is simply breathtakingly beautiful is not often found even in Rio. The view, the tranquility, the light in the evening – there is something special about it.
You feel welcome from the first moment. Particularly beautiful: a caipirinha with the owner, very loose, very warm, while enjoying the view. It's exactly moments like this that stick.
For us it is clear: We will come back. There's no question.
A little tip on the side: Dinner at the Bar do Tino is the perfect complement – this simply completes the evening.

breathtaking views
Even in the evening in the center of Santa Teresa we felt safe at all times. We could easily walk in the dark and enjoyed the atmosphere of the neighborhood very much. Santa Teresa offers exactly what you want from Rio away from the well-known beaches: Peace, authenticity and a creative environment. One deliberately escapes the hustle and bustle of Copacabana and Ipanema – a big plus for us.
The accommodation itself is exceptionally beautiful. It is a very well maintained colonial style villa with a lot of character and attention to detail. The area accessible to guests is open, spacious and inviting to linger. The guest rooms are located in a newly built wing that blends harmoniously into the slope. The rooms are clean, simple, modern and stylish – deliberately reduced, but very pleasant.
The absolute highlight of the accommodation is without any doubt the view. Honestly, we can hardly imagine that there is anything comparable in Rio. The view is simply breathtaking: Watching the sunrise over Sugarloaf Mountain from bed is unforgettable. Just for that, the stay is worth it.
Another big highlight is the rooftop pool. From there you have a unique panoramic view of both Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ's statue. Upstairs there is also an open kitchen and an open bar where you can have drinks at any time. We particularly like the trust concept: Guests themselves take notes of what they have consumed and pass this on to the hosts in the evening via WhatsApp. This system creates a very personal, almost family atmosphere and conveys a great deal of appreciation and trust – something you rarely experience.
We would particularly like to highlight the hosts and the entire team. Both the owners and all the staff are incredibly warm, attentive and always in a good mood. You feel welcome from the first moment. Everyone meets you with an honest smile, and it is precisely this positive mood that characterizes the entire stay.
Even if this accommodation is very different from a classic hotel on the Copacabana, in retrospect we have to be very clear: For us, this stay was significantly better than a hotel down on the seafront. The tranquility, the view, the atmosphere and the personal attention make all the difference.
We would like to sincerely thank the entire team for the exceptional hospitality, warmth, trust and this all-round successful stay.
We can recommend Rio 144 without restriction and hope to come back sometime.

A paradise in a city of millions
The hotel uses an honesty bar. That's handy if you're back late. It also made us feel extra welcome. We really enjoyed it. Definitely recommended in Rio!
