Made up superbly for a slight blip
We went as two couples and stayed at the Pema the same evening as we landed. Unfortunately, there was no table available for us for dinner. We spoke to our agent and we were then given the best table in the place (which was being used until that very time by the great and the good). Not only that, we were looked after by Geeta, their F&B manager, who was super excellent and served us with the most delicious food over the two days we were there.
The Pema also offers a lovely gift box with some nice goodies in it. The room is very clean and neat, with too quality furnishings. The staff are very nice and polite. We really enjoyed our stay at the Pema. I also found a copy of a very useful book at the hotel that I have put up photos of.

Beautiful and luxurious hotel in Thimpu!
A beautiful and luxurious hotel in the hills above Thimpu, but still within walking distance to the center. Perfect service, delicious breakfast. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a distinct buthanese style. All the rooms include a kitchen. Everything is delicate and clean and smells good at this place. We stayed at Pema By Realm for 4 days in the beginning of August 2026 and would love to come back.

My new favorite hotel in the world
I stayed at the Pema for the duration of my participation in a festival of arts and culture called Bhutan Echoes in August 2026. The Pema is my new favorite hotel in the world. The rooms are extremely elegantly furnished with gorgeous attention to local detail supporting Bhutanese crafts and trades, the food is excellent, drawing on local traditions as well as international cuisine, the staff are attentive and gracious, and the management have created a real sense of community, a home away from home. I was particularly inspired by how the leadership team support their staff through a range of professional development opportunities. A truly exceptional experience from start to finish, highly recommended.

Why can't I award six stars?
I last stayed with the Pema two years ago. Work has brought be back to Thimphu and it was natural to book with them this time. Everything about the hotel last time was five-star: room, friendly staff, efficient service, food. It's gotten better ! My room - a Valley Suite - was very spacious with comfortable arm chair and sofa, dining table which for me doubled as a work desk, bedroom (very comfy bed), plenty of hanging space, and bathroom with a wonderfully powerful rainfall shower. The staff were without exception friendly and very efficient. Laundry back same day. A varied menu which could be enjoyed in the main restaurant or in the excellent bistro downstairs or in the rooftop bar. And to top it all, the home-baked cakes (see photo). I shall definitely be booking with them next time I'm there on business. It is like returning to visit family. Thank you everyone for a splendid stay. John

Memorable place and people!
From the word go, it was people and warmth and pampering.
The suite was spacious and comfortable.
The food was delicious - one should try their Kewa Datshi.
The staff were pleasant and always helpful with a smile.
Won't hesitate staying with them again.
