Pleasant base to explore Vienna and beyond
Small family-run hotel with very friendly staff, lovely green courtyard and roof terrace/ balcony giving it a serene and romantic atmosphere. Our double room was very large with a large double bed which was very comfortable. To battle the heat, we had a big stand-up fan in our room which was perfect. Bathroom was also large although the shower itself was on the smaller side/ standard size. The floor was a bit dusty but the ret of the room was clean.
Breakfast buffet had a good selection and there was plenty also for vegetarians to choose from. There is also a warm breakfast menu available.
The hotel is situated only a few minutes walk from the bus/ train station so travelling into the city centre or anywhere else was very easy and simple. The nearest supermarket (Billa) is also only 10 minutes walk away. There are some pizzerias and other take-aways in the area, too. You can walk from the hotel to the river in about 25 minutes.
What surprised us a bit was that there was no tea/ coffee making facility in the room and no toiletries were provided. We also had to ask a couple of times for the toilet paper to be replenished as it had not been done as part of the daily room clean.
Although the hotel provides free WiFi, it did not work in our room and we had to go to either the courtyard or the roof terrace, and it worked in some (but not all) areas in the breakfast room.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay although we did not spend a lot of time at the hotel during the day as we were out and about from early morning to late evening every day. It was definitely more economical than staying in a hotel closer to the centre as public transport is very affordable in Vienna.

Pleasant place
Structure easily reachable by car from the motorway exit and with the possibility of parking along the road, at a discounted rate. The location is peripheral, but the hotel is well served by public transport: it is a 10-minute walk from the metro station (U2) or 5 minutes from a bus stop (26A) or a tram station (25). Therefore, with a day ticket, you can go anywhere: in 20 minutes you arrive in the center of Vienna. The entrance is a little dated and with thick vegetation in the center of the internal courtyard, the room has classic furnishings, but everything has a certain charm. The triple room was very spacious as was the bathroom and shower, with a separate toilet room. Everything very clean. There is no air conditioning (as in the description), but the environment still remained cool and it was not necessary to use the free standing fan supplied. All the staff were really very kind. Breakfast included, both sweet and savory.

Staying two nights. Room is comfortable, but without heating. Very cold now. Wifi only in corridor. After many complains nothing happens!

A visit to the Hotel Wiener Kindl is like staying with a favorite Aunt - a gem of a hotel.
The Hotel Wiener Kindl is housed in a building that is on the order of 125 years old. It has a very quant feel, it is well maintained, clean, has a lovely courtyard, and has all the necessary basic amenities for a comfortable stay. What makes this hotel a gem is the quite location and the attentiveness of the staff, particularly the proprietress. The buffet style breakfast is outstanding, with daily fresh bread from a local bakery, along with meats, cheeses, vegetables, yogurt, and cereals, and a wide range of coffees. The hotel is close to public transportation, no more than a 10 to 20 minute walk. Using the public transportation is a bit of a challenge when arriving or departing with luggage, so I would recommend hiring a car for initial arrival and final departure. Each time I travel to Vienna on business or pleasure, I stay at Hotel Wiener Kindl. This year was my tenth visit.

Best value for money
It is a small hotel run by a nice lady in a quiet street, Street wears a completely deserted look by late evening. Keep offline map of Vienna handy. Reaching there with luggage is an issue. If you have light luggage, you can alight at Grobenzersdorf metro (Aspern route) and walk (10 Mins). The entrance is plain, no frills, just like a quiet home. Main entrance is locked at 10:00 PM, so arrive early.
If you don't find anybody at reception, ring the bell twice, pour a cup of coffee and wait. I had to gulp two cups before she came down. She is a sweet elderly lady with a big smile. Very welcoming. She apologized and gave a pack of chocolates to compensate for the wait. Rooms are old yet comfortable, baths are basic and clean. Breakfast spread was great.Overall you have much of the value returned.
