Try it, even if just the once..

Austrian cuisine is 'unique' especially if you are an avid traveller and enjoy diversity and adventurous taste but let that not detract from honest, hearty and flavoursome food that Weststeirischer Hof offers in abundance. The Sunday lunch is a perfect example and in the few times my family (including extended family from Stainz) have dined here, we have not been disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised this Easter Sunday to find a Thai spiced soup on the starter menu and being a keen recreational cook who adores Thai myself, I sincerely hope the management build on this and include some choice main courses going forward. It will be a gamble and I for one will re-visit...just hope the locals embrace it and spread the word. Well done Weststeirischer Hof!

Very welcoming hosts, excellent kitchen!

We stayed one night at Weststeirischer Hof in a group of 10 to celebrate a family birthday. The hostess Sonja and her husband Klaus, an excellent chef, did everything to make us feel like home. We felt like we could move around as if it was our place. And they supported us with everything we needed for a good birthday party.
For dinner we had an amazing 4 course meal, with very high quality ingredients. The wine cellar is also impressive.
The rooms are standard, good sized. For our purposes the perfect place.

Buon hotel

Hotel in posizione sopra al centro, in una zona tranquillissima. Un silenzio ed una pace incredibili, con un bel panorama dalla stanza. Stanze abbastanza ampie e molto pulite. Letti e cuscini confortevoli. E' presente un centro benessere non tanto grande ma molto pulito. Possibilità di usufruire gratuitamente dell'acqua naturale di Bad Gams. I proprietari, sempre presenti in struttura sono molto gentili. Colazione ottima ed abbndante con un' ampia scelta sia di dolce che di salato. Parcheggio e wi-fi gratuiti. Possibilità di cenare nel ristorante annesso, buona qualità e prezzi nella media.

Vom ÖBB-Bahnhof genau 7 km. Radweg bis Ortseingang, wenn nicht der Weg über den Berg gewählt wird. Ab Kirche dann kurzer heftiger Anstieg. Im Juni 2 Ruhetage. Die andere Gaststätte zeitgleich am Dienstag.
Da ich mehr als einen Tag bleiben wollte, habe ich womöglich auch ein Spitzen-Zimmer erhalten. Ich sollte lange überlegen, so viel Platz in einem Hotel gehabt zu haben. Und dazu noch die Ruhe. Wenn nicht in 100m ab und zu ein Rasen mit dem Mäher malträtiert worden wäre, dann fast himmlisch.
Das Frühstück war und ist tatsächlich aussergewöhnlich. Zumeist war der Chef persönlich Vorort, und hat regelmässig geschaut, ob alle Zutaten ausreichend ausliegen. Das Ambiente sehr angenehm.
Zum Abendessen darf ich die Käseplatte empfehlen. Ob gross oder mittel. Der Käse ist astrein. Gut sortiert auch die offenen Weine zur Probe. Gastgarten gemütlich.
Die Radgarage ist womöglich noch nicht der letzte Schrei. Mitunter war diese bis zum Stehkragen belegt.
Als Ausgangspunkt für Radtouren ist das Hotel meine Empfehlung.

Gut gegessen

Gutes Hotel mit freundlichen Gastgebern. Vor allem haben wir sehr gut Abend gegessen. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet liess kaum Wünsche offen. Da und dort etwas Renovierungsbedarf, aber nichts gravierendes, wenn dann die Zeiten für die Hotelerie wieder besser werden.
Gerne wieder.
