Surrounded by the Tyrolean mountains, the historic, family-run Hotel Spielmann 4s is located in Ehrwald, a village at the foot of the Zugspitze mountain. The surrounding countryside and numerous sporting activities make for a perfect Alpine holiday.

Great wellness hotel, with caring staff and excellent food
We spent 3 very pleasant nights here in the Berg Wellness suite, including half board, and were absolutely thrilled:
The entire hotel, especially the wellness area, and the room were in an exceptionally well-maintained condition (the garage parking space is included when booking the suite)
The breakfast is excellent, with a juice press and fruits/vegetables available, various types of bread, cheese, cold cuts, very good coffee from a fully automatic machine... etc.; we found the dinner particularly extraordinary: We arrived on Sunday, and that evening there was a 5-course gala dinner, with 3-course menus on the other two days. The menu included at least 2 dishes to choose from for each course, and a vegetarian main dish is also offered. Even if one or another side dish is not to one's liking (which was the case for us), there is no problem exchanging it according to the guest's wishes. The menu also always included local dishes, made with great effort, very tasty, and modernly interpreted.
We thoroughly enjoyed the wellness area despite the icy outdoor temperatures (it had snowed): The stainless steel pool (with bubble massages at the push of a button) was heated to 30 degrees, and we enjoyed the view of the Zugspitze in the sunshine, with an outdoor temperature of 3 degrees. Afterwards, to the sauna (there is a sauna indoors by the pool), the wellness area on the 2nd floor is available from 2:00 PM and is also very high quality, and above all cozy. The entire staff at the hotel, and of course the hosts themselves, are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
We spoke with the lady at the reception during lunch about the beautiful wooden fireplace in the entrance area, and in the evening we were pleasantly surprised by a cozy wood fire. The hotel is a clear recommendation for us; we will definitely return.

Great summer break in the mountains
We actually only come to the Spielmann once a year in winter, because we are always very satisfied.
After a stay in the Dolomites we decided to spend a short summer stay... and were also thrilled!
The rooms are great and are even getting better! We were allowed to try one of the new Taja suites, awesome! With its own sauna and a daybed with great views of the Sonnenspitz mountain!
Again lots of wood, paired with dark elements in the bathroom, which gives the whole suite a great mix of luxury and coziness.
The rock pool and sunbathing lawn with great views of the mountains are also a highlight in summer!
Highlights in summer are excursions to the Eibsee, the Zugspitze and the Ehrwalder Alm, in addition to the great SPA and rock pool there is also enough entertainment and relaxation here in summer.
Even the dinner with the 4-course menu was fantastic again... we probably come to ski not only once a year but certainly in the second time in the summer months.
We are already looking forward to January!

Wonderful hotel for those who are visiting the Zugspitze.
This hotel is situated in the village of Ehrwald, just into Austria.
The hotel is family run and is just so so good...
Pretty as a picture from the outside and classic Alpine inside.
Our room was spacious with a mountain view and was perfect.
Clean and well maintained.
Food was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and varied with an egg station which is always a big plus. We ate at the hotel one night and were very happy withe meals.
Our Grand daughters was visiting us and they provided her with activities and games to play...perfect.
Staff were outstanding.
Highly recommend this hotel.

Family hotel with very good meals.
Very pleasant hotel where you notice that it is still family run. Half board is very good with high quality meals. Romantik Spa is a bit expensive for what is on offer. Bar is a bit on cramped side a little less. Parking very good, nice spacious pitches with flat floor to drive in.

Alpine warmth and luxury
Visited for 5 nights in July. The Spielmann is a beautiful hotel in an unbeatable setting just at the foot of the mountains. We hat the Wellness suite which was spacious with an L-shaped balcony, but we thought another time we would downgrade as the hotel and spa are so lovely we didn't spend much time in the room. Half-board was great. They allocate you one table for your stay and you order from the options for dinner over breakfast. Dinner was extremely good - the white tomato soup was amazing, as we're many other dishes. Only one dessert and you have to pay even fir a jug if table- water. But cocktails etc reasonably priced for someone used to SE UK prices. The staff were great and there is excellent bike storage which is important for us. The main spa area is continental -style ie you are not clothed in the facilities, but people don't gowns or towels generally to move in between. The downstairs sauna is textile, but nowhere near as hot so not that great really. Overall highly recommend, we would love to go back.
