Convenient location for a comfortable & cheap stay in a lively area

I needed a room in Sydney in this area for a couple of nights at short notice. This place was very close to where I needed to be, and at a good price. I feared that it wouldn't be top quality, but I thought it was actually pretty good.
The reception desk (where I made my booking) was always manned in office hours, and the reception had some space where people waited, as well as some basic facilities and vending machines.
My room was a typical small hotel room, with comfortable twin beds, fridge with tea & coffee facilities, TV on the wall & sink in the corner. The nearby shared bathroom with shower was clean and had plenty of hot water.
The only real negative was that there was a bit of a smell of drains in the room, which I noticed when first coming into the room. They really should fix this.

Easy to get to. Helpful staff. Shower was very small with black stains on shower curtain, Shower hose leaked bad, No leg room to sit on toilet had to sit sideways on it. A bit too expensive for what was supplied.

Very low standards, however there where hidden charges for the number of people which were payable upon check in. I'd rather places be upfront and transparent and therefore this was an unpleasant experience and i would avoid staying here again.

This is an adequate 2* hotel. We decided to save money on accommodation and use the savings to eat out at all the wonderful vegan cafes and restaurants in New Town. We got what we paid for and were happy. Staff very helpful. Linen clean. And hot water. Bed relatively comfortable. Very good value compared to most accommodation in Sydney. Will definitely suit the budget traveller. Small area to heat up food in microwave. Close to public transport. Free parking on side streets but not easy. Next time we would not bring car.

I have a mould allergy and the air conditioner had a strong mould smell
I have been sick since with cold/allergy type symptoms
This ruined my holiday as I could not do what I had planned
