One of the best Thai meals I have had

Arrived at the Frisco Hotel late afternoon and went to the first floor. Drinks were only available on the ground floor but there was another bar on the first floor no doubt for use when busy. They have a great outdoor seating area (smoking) on the ground floor as seen in the photo, and they also have a great verandah area on the first floor. Considering you are essentially in the heart of Sydney, alcohol was very reasonably priced, but the real gem was the food. Between the four of us, we had about 9 dishes and they were sensational. Apart from Thai food they had other choices (pasta, chicken parmi, hamburgers etc), but it was really great. We had dumplings, spring rolls etc etc, and could not fault any of it. It was also very reasonably priced with each dish being about $15. The next day we met other friends in Chinatown for Yum Cha, and the quality/price of the food there did not come close to matching Frisco Hotel.

The Fresco Hotel is always empty — and you can see why. The bar staff are extremely rude

The Fresco Hotel is always empty — and you can see why. The bar staff are extremely rude, and the service is disappointing. Both The Woolly Bay and The Tilbury Hotel offer much better customer service and good food. Don’t waste your time going to this hotel.

Unique Experience, Self-Service Concept

This restaurant and bar offers a different dining experience where you order food and drinks directly at the counter, which may seem unusual at first. However, since I was in a new country, I decided to embrace the local flow! Keep in mind, there are no waiters to ask, "Are you ready to order?" Instead, you head upstairs to place your order yourself.
The same process applies to drinks—self-service all the way. One thing to note, though, is that there are no hidden fees or service charges, and tipping is not required. Whether this concept works for you is a matter of personal preference, but it’s certainly a no-fuss experience!

Quaint hotel

Quaint hotel with friendly staff downstairs in the bar. The guy who greeted us was very funny and helpful. If you order a meal, you have to collect it up a rather steep set of stairs where the kitchen is located. We noted that the male staff member went across the road to buy a pie for his dinner. We made a comment as to why, and he said staff don't get discounted meals. The pub is owned by Chinese.....

Balcony drinks

Stopped in for a drink after walking past and spoting this blue balcony. Great location from balcony can see the water and Woolloomooloo wharf. Ended up having a few more beers. Didn’t try food but looked good what come out. Balcony is a must if you visit.
