Some great aspects, but some questionable for a 5-star. The hotel is showing its age. It's still good value but there's a reason it's cheaper.
The lobby is not busy, which is great. Staff available to help, no queing up.
The services in the room were a bit off. The QR code for in room dining did not work. Theere was confusion about what could be ordered and what couldnt be, with phone staff not familiar with the menus.
The room was clean on the surface, but lots of debris and old food crumbs between cushions in the chairs.
The king bed was two beds pushed together, which was comfortable enough but had soft spots and hard spots, and you could definitely tell where the beds met.
The bathroom fixtures were not in great shape. The shower head was replaced and didn't fit in the holder correctly. The shower head hose cover was falling off, with sharp edges.
Lastly, the Platinum member food discount benefit is not available for in room dining, despite being the same menu, restaurant, and same kitchen. You have to actually attend the restaurant which is annoying when you are with small children.

A great hotel with many fond memories
I have been staying at the Amora for over 16 years, this hotel is like my second home, I look so forward in coming here, the staff no matter what position they are in, have always been helpful, courteous and professional, I always look forward to seeing them, they have always been there for me, when I need them, I would recommend the Amora to anyone who would be visiting the Sydney area

Terrible stay and terrible staff.
HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARD– CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!
I stayed for one night prior to the Sydney Marathon for a closer location to the start line, and stepped on a sharp piece of glass in the carpet when I woke up and got out of bed. I am incredibly lucky it did not pierce me and cause an injury the morning I would be running 42 kilometers. I also found blood, which was certainly not mine, on the bedsheets.
With photo and video evidence of both the glass and the blood on the sheet, along with my legs and foot being clear of any cuts or scrapes, the hotel claimed that both the glass and the blood were from me. This claim was quite literally impossible, as I had zero open wounds and the only glass I had on me for my stay was my phone, which was not even scratched.
The hotel's resolution? Free breakfast, which did not open before the marathon began, and would end far before I reached the finish line. Not much more than an apology otherwise.
I am incredibly disappointed that Elizabeth Andrango and her Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney would not take ownership of these TWO health and wellness HAZARD issues, and would implore athletes and anyone who has a care about their personal health and hygiene to look for any other accommodations in the area.
Furthermore, Elizabeth Andrango does not care about the customers who stay in her hotel, and was beyond rude, dismissive, and avoidant in having this discussion with myself and my family. Google her name and you'll find this is not even close to the first issue customers have had with her.
Also, the beds are hard as a rock. Enjoy that if you stay there I guess.

Easy to go anywhere from this prime location. The bell service are very friendly and very professional. They always quick.

Not too bad. Room is expensive for what it is.
Good overall stay but room was a little tired. Mattrass needs replacing. Food was good but Room service charge $9 not well received!
