We were going to a show at the Regent Theatre and decided to stay the night at The Westin which is right next door. Drinks in the bar before hand in a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was included and the Buffet selection was excellent. Valet Parking also included in our rate which made things even easier. We had a deluxe king room on the 5th floor which looked out over Collins Street. Room was a great size.

Filthy rooms and a disappointing stay
I've stayed at The Westin Melbourne around 10 times over the past two decades when visiting Melbourne for the Australian Open.
We stayed from 23–25 January this year in interconnecting rooms 542 and 543 (two adults and two children). During the Australian Open, the rooms cost around AUD $1,000 per room, per night—approximately $4,000 for our two-night stay.
After arriving late from the tennis, I started to feel ill and both children began sneezing. We inspected the rooms and found thick dust behind the bedside tables, behind the TV, around the power outlets, on furniture and along the carpet edges. I ran my finger through the dust to confirm how thick it was. The attached photos speak for themselves.
The bathroom grout was mouldy and the balcony was dark, dirty and neglected.
Reception advised the hotel was full so we couldn't be moved that night.
Housekeeping cleaned the rooms the following day, but much of the dirt appeared embedded and the rooms still didn't feel clean.
We changed rooms the following day and the new rooms were clean and pleasant. The contrast between the rooms was immediate.
The condition of the original rooms was appalling. A very disappointing experience from a hotel I had previously enjoyed.

Hotel was great but we waited 1.5 hours for check in. We were told firstly housekeeping was behind and then after half an hour was told there was a door issue. After a 1.5 hour wait room was still not ready and after a forceful conversation we were upgraded to a smaller room.

Dangerous Hotel
What are rip off this Hotel is. After checking out, they decided to charge me for minibar items I never had.. the front staff absolutely incompetent. This is also not the safest hotel to stay out. There is a lot of homeless people around this area.

Pool and Jaccuzi freezing
We are frequent visitors to the Westin, the quiet rooms, comfortable beds and ambiance usually make it a great place for a staycaytion. We went for 3 days in July as a mid school holiday treat for our son who is doing VCE. Usually the kids love to pool and spend most of their time there but on this occasion the stay was ruined by the freezing temperature in both the pool and jacuzzi. On the Saturday the pool was to cold to play in whilst the jaccuzi was tepid at best, on the Sunday it was even worse, we were unable to even sit in the spa it was that cold. The kids and I were standing in the spa when a mother and daughter came to teh pool area, they thought we were standing as it was too hot!! They too couldnt sit in there. I gave feedback to reception and was told that it was due to the "outside temperature" and even a sign was put up at the pool saying this, I found this explanation frankly ridiculous and treated customers as idiots who would believe anything. I usually stay there the weekend of the Melbourne marathon but if the pool and jacuzzi temps are still driven by the outside temperature I will have no choice but to stay elsewhere.
