The view was incredible!
Firstly, let me say that this whole island is just hugely overpriced and now I understand why Aussies go overseas for island holidays. The prices are absolutely ridiculous and do not represent good value for money. Sadly, it’s now been sold overseas to corporate globalists and is no longer a family owned Australian business.
This is my second visit to Hamilton Island, and last time we stayed at Qualia, which was actually good value for money. The reef view hotel is just so overpriced for what you get.
However, we did have a really nice room - a king coral Sea view room and it had been renovated. The view was incredible! Given the price I would not like to be in anything less than this. We were most happy with this room, even with the incredibly loud building works going on nearby, which drove us insane. That can’t be helped, but it would’ve been nice if the hotel could’ve warned us so we could’ve had earplugs.
I enjoyed the pool downstairs and it seemed to have the least amount of out of control children which I found at the other pool. I had a piña colada one day at the pool and let me say that is the only cocktail I would drink there and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The price of cocktails at this resort is absolutely out of control - Way overpriced with the cheapest nastiest alcohol you can get. I knew if I got a piña colada I wouldn’t taste the nasty cheap rum and if I just had one, I wouldn’t end up with a massive headache. This turned out to be a very good choice.
What was really outstanding was the buffet breakfasts. We ate at the buffet each morning, and the selection was absolutely fabulous, especially the tropical fruit. I am a small eater and GF but managed to have a nice breakfast each time. The GF selection of pastries was pretty yuck but I was able to load up on fruit and Chia pudding along with a hot breakfast.
One of the best things we did was go to the local IGA and purchase some champagne and nibbles to enjoy on our balcony and some supplies for lunches.
The balcony was very spacious with comfortable seating, which was a great place to sit champagne and read a book or just enjoy the beautiful view. The cockatoos were very entertaining and didn’t bother us. We just made sure they were kept outside by keeping our screen door closed.

Beautiful views, comfy bed and very clean
We had a fantastic stay at the Reef View Hotel. The room was huge, spotless, and beautifully presented, with plenty of space to relax. It was serviced daily, which made the stay feel even more comfortable, and the mini bar fridge was always well stocked.
The views were absolutely stunning — waking up to that ocean outlook was a highlight, and even better with the occasional visit from the local cockatoos!
The buffet breakfast was excellent with so many options, and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway — we’ll definitely be back!

The service at this hotel on Hamilton Island is superior! Alvaro and Vicky are stellar, they made our holiday the best ever. Can’t recommend this hotel more! And Tyler takes it to the next level. The amenities are wonderful, the pools are lovely.

On arrival lovely to see wallabies, impressive lifts on outside of building, lovely big swimming pool.
However, the vinyl on the lounge settees in the public area was splitting badly, when sitting in the bath I saw the underside of the wash hand basin was absolutely filthy, and the restaurant at breakfast was extremely noisy.
Also very dull entertainment of an evening.
Needs refurbishing and far too expensive for what it is.

Very smooth check in and check out process, friendly staff, particularly in the Reef Lounge. Great location and room view over Catseye beach. Tennis, mini golf, pool all well maintained. Hotel is dated, room are spacious but furnishings need an update, and beds were not very comfortable. Two of four lifts out of order for a lot of our stay resulted in some long waits.
