Beautifully designed and quiet property

Beautifully designed rooms and internals of building. Chilled, quiet and nice crowd for those that want a bit more peace from the usual backpacker experience. Really helpful staff in every way!

Bad cleanliness and broken aircondition

The hostel itself looks nice and the facilities have a lot of potential, but unfortunately our overall experience was really disappointing due to many small (and not so small) issues that added up.
First of all, it was extremely hot everywhere. The air conditioning in our room did not work at all, and even the bathrooms were unbearably hot. This is especially unacceptable during the Australian summer and made sleeping and showering very uncomfortable.
Cleanliness was another major issue. Our room was not cleaned properly — there was a lot of dust and hair under the beds (see picture). We asked for a vacuum cleaner twice but never received one. Although the bathrooms were often closed “for cleaning,” they were never actually clean. The showers had what looked like mold (see picture), there was frequently no toilet paper, and the hand soap was watered down and often empty.
Another frustrating detail: you cannot rent a towel, only buy one. I bought a towel, but it shed blue fibers everywhere, leaving my body covered in little blue dots after drying. I asked for a different-colored towel, but it had the exact same problem.
Overall, while the hostel has nice facilities, the broken AC and poor cleanliness really ruined our stay. These issues seriously affected our comfort, and because of that, I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

Poor a/c and bad ventilation

Well located, and kept clean, newly renovated bathrooms, nice kitchen and communal spaces, in my dorm, it was very stuffy and the a/c struggled to ventilate the room, it was hot and uncomfortable in the night and this made sleep difficult.

The room was entirely adequate but could've benefited with more hanging options for damp towels.

Great experience

I had such a great stay at Little Drifters Hostel! The atmosphere was super chill and welcoming. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always up for a chat or to offer recommendations around Cairns.
The place was always kept clean, the kitchen had everything you’d need, and the common areas were perfect for relaxing or meeting other travellers. Beds were comfy too!
It’s in a handy location. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, social, and well-kept spot to stay in Cairns.
