Lovely lunch

Went here with friends and family as served by Holly who was really lovely and kind and service was overall really good. Food and drink was really lovely and the pub has a gorgeous atmosphere.

A Disappointing meal

I ordered a roast dinner.
The beef was cold, and the rest of the plate seemed determined to keep it company. The roast potatoes had spent rather too much quality time in the oven, while the vegetables had surrendered any fight they once had.
Then there was the gravy. Calling it gravy feels generous — it was more like dishwater that had briefly been introduced to a stock cube.
We also ordered the £7 cauliflower. At that price I was half expecting it to have its own postcode and arrive with a certificate of authenticity. Sadly, it was just cauliflower.
The service was actually quick and the staff were polite, although we were asked about the same drinks order three times. Perhaps they were just making absolutely certain we hadn’t changed our minds.
To their credit, when we complained they handled it well and refunded the roast, which was appreciated.
A shame, because the service was prompt and pleasant, but when the highlight of a Sunday roast is getting your money back, something has probably gone a little wrong in the kitchen.

Boathouse, Bath - Brilliant

It was a grey and rainy day, but we sat outside because of the view over the Avon, and were warmed by heaters and kept dry by big umbrellas. Although being very busy, due to some big function, we still received reasonably good and very friendly service. We had Beef and Tanglefoot Pies, and Fish and Chips. Those pies were the best pies I have enjoyed in my entire life (and I am a connoisseur!) The fish and chips were also great. So - worth a trip from Sweden? Definitely! Prices were OK for the UK (Cheap for a Swede!)

What a shame …

Had to stand and wait for ages at the door with no front of house to be seen for 10 minutes. Table then wasn’t ready. Menu was lacklustre. The burger came out wrong and the chips were so over salted I could barely eat them. Service just seemed like fed up girls who just wanted their busy shift to end. As we were leaving someone else was complaining their burger was wrong too: won’t be returning
